Good Samaritan Catholic College, Hinchinbrook is co-educational and caters to over 1300 students from Year 7 to Year 12. Our College motto 'Journeying with Compassion' derived directly from the 'Parable of the Good Samaritan' provides the underlying ethos of the College's Mission Statement.

<p><b>Applications are invited for a suitably qualified Class Teacher - Specialist Support Class. </b></p><p><b>This is a permanent position commencing January 2023. </b></p><p><b>Remuneration includes a Specialist Support Class Loading.</b></p><p><b><br /></b></p><p>Sydney Catholic Schools provide reasonable adjustments to assist and support students with disability to successfully engage in learning. Students with complex intellectual and developmental disabilities may benefit from a highly personalised program, smaller class sizes and the additional support provided in a SCS Specialist Support Class located within a mainstream school setting. </p><p>In 2022, Good Samaritan Catholic College Hinchinbrook began operating Sydney Catholic Schools first secondary Specialist Support Class, for students with moderate intellectual disabilities. Students enrolled in these classes benefit from highly skilled Special Education teachers, contemporary technology and quality resources whilst being active and valued members of our school community. The curriculum is personalised, integrated and collaborative and builds the capabilities of all students. The school is committed to collaboration and conversations that focus on student and staff growth. </p><p> </p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>Applicants should address the following essential criteria, desirable criteria and general capabilities in a cover letter addressed to the Principal. </b></p><p><b> Essential Criteria:</b><br /></p><ul><li>Passion to work with the young people of the Good Samaritan and South Western Sydney community </li><li>Demonstrable support and commitment to the mission, values and ethos of Catholic Education </li><li>Qualifications in Special Education and/or experience teaching students with a variety of disabilities including moderate cognitive disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder and other complex needs. </li><li>Quality classroom practice and highly developed skills which enhance student engagement through differentiated and individualised learning programs. </li><li>Knowledge of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) cyclic processes is essential, including planning, implementation, validation and review of student’s Personalised Plans. </li><li>Highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with colleagues within the broader school community, parents/carers, Learning Support Officers and system and/or external support personnel. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of Life Skills syllabi with a specific focus on developing student’s skills and independence, thereby enhancing their post school opportunities. </li><li>Demonstrated skills in integrating each student’s specialised communication systems and their other assistive technology into all aspects of the teaching and learning cycle.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><b>Desirable Criteria: </b><br /></p><ul><li>Ability and qualifications to teach Religious Education</li></ul><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b><b>The following <u>General Capabilities</u> are applicable to the role: </b></p><ul><li> Well-developed interpersonal skills</li><li> Well-developed oral and written communication skills</li><li> Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment</li><li> Strong organisational skills</li><li>Child Protection legislation requires the applicant have a current Working With Children Clearance.</li></ul><p><b><br /></b></p><p>To be employed in a Sydney Catholic School, all applicants must first obtain classification and accreditation through the application process on-line at <a href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/careers/registration-to-teach" rel="nofollow">SCS Registration to Teach</a>. </p><p>This process includes the submission of relevant documents to Sydney Catholic Schools for verification.</p><p><br /></p><p><i>Sydney Catholic Schools is committed to ensuring the safety of our staff, students and school communities.
