The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) is currently seeking a temporary Virtual Academy Educator to join the team in 2023.<br>The role will be full-time in Term 1 and part-time (0.6FTE) for Terms 2-4.<br><br>The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) is responsible for the leadership, operation and management of systemic schools which educate more than 20,000 students in 45 primary schools, 11 secondary schools, two K–12 schools, one flexible learning centre in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.<br><br><a href="https://diocesemn.azurewebsites.net/media/5840/position_description_-_cso_-_virtual_academy_educator.pdf" target="_blank"><strong><br><br><head3><b>POSITION DESCRIPTION</b></head3></strong></a><br><br>The Virtual Academy Educator works with a group of students identified as highly/profoundly gifted (primarily stages 3 and 4) to learn with autonomy and engage with intellectual peers and expert mentors by:<br><li>Taking a key role in the provision of a stimulating and enriching learning environment to enable highly and profoundly gifted students to explore and build on their gifts (APST 4).<br></li><li>Building the knowledge and pedagogy about gifted education to create an authentic continuum of learning (APST 2 &amp; 3).<br></li><li>Acknowledging academic requirements of the gifted child (APST 5).<br></li><li>Engaging in professional learning to provide innovative and advanced curricula with local, national and global perspectives that are beyond the scope of the regular classroom (APST 6).<br></li><li>Being involved in a network of shared expertise in gifted education by engaging with colleagues, parents/carers and the community (APST 7).<br></li><li>Identifying the social and emotional needs of the gifted child (APST 1).<br></li>
