The Maitland-Newcastle Catholic Schools office is seeking a permanent full-time Leader of Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Education & Wellbeing.

About the opportunity:<br><br>The Leader of Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Learning &amp; Wellbeing leads the delivery of support to schools to meet the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander students, to ensure academic achievement improves, students are engaged in their schooling and to ensure the authentic integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island perspectives into curriculum.<br><br><br>The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) is responsible for the leadership, operation and management of systemic schools which educate more than 20,000 students in 45 primary schools, 11 secondary schools, one K–12 school, one flexible learning centre and one special school in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.&nbsp; The position of CSO Leader of Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Education and Wellbeing from a system level.<br><br><a href="http://diocesemn.azurewebsites.net/media/5985/position_description_-_cso_-_leader_aboriginal_torres_strait_islander_learning__wellbeing.pdf" target="_blank"><strong><br><br><head3><b>POSITION DESCRIPTION</b></head3></strong></a><br><br>The Leader of Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Learning &amp; Wellbeing leads the delivery of support to schools to meet the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander students, to ensure academic achievement improves, students are engaged in their schooling and to ensure the authentic integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island perspectives into curriculum. This involves:<br><li>building strong collaborative relationships to improve skills and practices and aligning with Learning and Wellbeing initiatives,<br></li><li>developing and sourcing teaching resources for schools and students,<br></li><li>understanding Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander students and their families' concerns and issues,<br></li><li>providing support to schools in identifying and implementing successful strategies to address any areas of concern,<br></li><li>ensure the needs of our Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander students have quality wellbeing and learning in our schools to reach their growth potential.<br><br>Leading the understanding of the intent of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle’s Reconciliation Action Plan – Reflect will be essential to the realisation of these objectives.</li>
