St John Paul II College is a Co-educational College in Gungahlin which commenced in 2013 with an intake of Year 7 students. It is adding a year group each successive year and, by 2018, will be a 7 – 12 College. In 2017, it caters for students in Years 7 – 11.
St John Paul II College is a welcoming and inclusive learning community where diversity is embraced and learning outcomes are maximised for each individual. The College is a flagship college of best practice in education for the Catholic community of the region: a unique, innovative educational environment where every student and staff member can flourish. Its pedagogical approach maximises active student learning through the adoption of the principles of brain-based learning and Growth Mindset, an inquiry approach and a self-directed learning environment. The physical design of St John Paul II College facilitates this vision with open, flexible, adaptable spaces designed for team teaching and meeting the needs of every student. College structures and timetable are also adapted to the vision.
Sustainability is a key focus in the College. Staff are committed to sustainable practice including the incorporation of sustainability across the curriculum, minimisation of waste, healthy eating and physical activity.
