West Island School is looking for a Teacher of Business Studies to join the community. The successful candidate contributes to integrated humanities and designing learning that draws on key business concepts.

<p><b>Job Description </b></p><p>West Island School is seeking to appoint a Teacher of Business Studies (Full Time Two Years contract starting in August 2023, renewable by mutual agreement). </p><p>You will be teaching with a team of four Business teachers who work creatively to deliver programmes that benefit from our context in Hong Kong as a major international trading hub. From age 11-14 the Business team contribute to integrated humanities and designing learning that draws on key business concepts. From ages 14-16, students can choose iGCSE Business Studies and we currently have 6 teaching groups across this phase. Students can then progress into IBDP Business or BTec Level 3 Business depending on their chosen pathway. </p><p>The popularity of the subject within the school is matched by the success of our students who consistently attain above expectations. Business Studies is the first choice for the majority in future career and university applications. </p><p>Working within the Individual &amp; Societies Faculty you will be able to teach Business across the age and ability range including iGCSE, IB Standard and Higher Level. Btec experience would be a distinct advantage. Your passion and subject knowledge is more important than having direct experience of teaching IB. Applications are welcome from those with experience of equivalent post 16 programmes such as A level or Senior Secondary Curriculum. It would be helpful but not essential if you can teach Economics to at least iGCSE level. </p><p>All teachers at West Island School are tutors to a group of approximately 15 students within a particular year group and you should be able to demonstrate a commitment to the holistic development of young people through pastoral work. It is essential that you are willing and able to contribute to the wider life of our schools such as leading overseas visits and trips. </p><p>Finally, there is a range of extra-curricular events and activities to which every teacher is expected to contribute to. Many activities are based on the teacher’s own interests or in support of students who are leading activities.
