Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) continues to be a thriving and growing contemporary educational community with over 150 schools, more than 71,000 students, 10,000 staff and a large alumni community.<br /> <br /> <strong>Education Officer: Church Engagement</strong><br /><strong> Location:</strong> World Square, CBD and within Schools<br /> <strong>Commencement Date:</strong> Friday, 27 January 2020 (negotiable)<br /> <strong>Closing Date:</strong> Tuesday, 13 December 2022<br /> <strong>Capacity:</strong> Permanent, Full-time<br /> <br /> <strong>ABOUT THE ROLE</strong><br /> <br /> The Education Officer: Church Engagement focuses on improving the active involvement of students, staff and families in Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) in the life of the Catholic Church through evangelisation, formation, and education activities. The position requires an experienced educator with a well-developed understanding of and capacity to evangelise and engage students and communities in the mission of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Sydney. You will work with the Manager: Network Catholic Identity and other Education Officers to create particular Church Engagement plans for schools across various Networks and to improve the percentage of practising Catholic students, staff and families in SCS schools actively engaged in faith through a variety of retreats, presentations, and special events.<br /> <br /> <strong>MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES</strong><br /> <br /> The successful candidate for this position will be a highly effective and Catholic leader who:</p> <ul> <li>is a committed Catholic who understands evangelising mission of Catholic schools</li> <li>is a leader of Catholic identity and mission at a school and/or system level</li> <li>is committed to working closely with priests and the parish community</li> <li>can lead the preparation of liturgies and celebrations</li> <li>is a person who can effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders and build relationships</li> <li>can analyse and use data to inform learning and engage in future planning</li> <li>has the ability to work collaboratively across all stages</li> <li>is adaptable in working within a 'shared-leadership' model.</li> </ul> <p><strong>ESSENTIAL CRITERIA</strong><br /> <br /> The successful candidate will also possess the following qualifications and experience:</p> <ul> <li>university degree in Education or Teaching</li> <li>postgraduate qualification in Religious Education, Theology, Education or another discipline</li> <li>demonstrated five years minimum teaching experience in a school</li> <li>experience in leading staff in professional learning</li> <li>demonstrated success in improving student outcomes</li> <li>demonstrated experience in implementing school wide initiatives</li> <li>experienced in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives</li> <li>demonstrated the ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts</li> <li>a current driver's licence.</li> </ul> <p>You will have attained or be pursuing the following qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>a qualified and accredited teacher with NESA</li> <li>ability to operate at the Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers</li> <li>accreditation to 'Teach Religious Education' in the Archdiocese of Sydney (Category D), in accordance with the "Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in systemic Catholic schools" policy within the Archdiocese of Sydney</li> <li>accreditation or Provisional Accreditation for Senior Leadership in a Catholic School (<a href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/policies/accreditation-policy-to-work-teach-and-lead-in-sydney-catholic-schools">Category E</a>), in accordance with the "Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in systemic Catholic schools" policy within the Archdiocese of Sydney.</li> </ul> <p><strong>APPLICATION PROCESS</strong><br /> <br />To apply for this position please <a href="https://cgprod.phris.org.au/psp/CGPRD/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/HRS_HRAM_FL.HRS_CG_SEARCH_FL.GBL?Page=HRS_APP_JBPST_FL&amp;Action=U&amp;FOCUS=Applicant&amp;SiteId=2&amp;JobOpeningId=2731&amp;PostingSeq=1">CLICK HERE</a> and follow the prompts.
