The Sports Coordinator is responsible for the management and administration of the College’s sporting activities and programs within the secondary school. This will include the coordination of all venues, facilities, coaches, umpires, transport, and team allocations for EISM and Team Vic sports matches and sporting carnivals.

The current enrolment is over 1500 students from Prep to Year 12 and the total number of employees is approximately 300. </p><p>Donvale Christian College is governed, as provided for in its Constitution, by the College Board. The Board are elected by the members of the College. The full range of Christian denominations is represented in the parent body of the College. There is no position on the Board elected or appointed by any single church community. The Board is totally elected by the membership of Donvale Christian College Ltd. The Executive Principal is appointed by the Board and together they appoint staff. </p><p>Members of the Donvale Christian College community come from many different Christian faith traditions. To ensure a sense of harmony between home and School, the College has adopted a Statement of Faith based on a Christian worldview. All parents and Staff are specifically asked if their faith commitment is echoed in the words of this Statement of Faith and they are requested to indicate agreement when applying for the enrolment of their children or employment at the College. </p><p>Staff members are expected to actively support the Christian aims of the College. Applicants are required to provide a valid Working With Children Check/VIT and will be subject to background checking in accordance with this policy. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Role Description: </b></p><p>The Sports Coordinator is responsible for the management and administration of the College’s sporting activities and programs within the secondary school. This will include the coordination of all venues, facilities, coaches, umpires, transport, and team allocations for EISM and Team Vic sports matches and sporting carnivals. </p><p>The core business of Donvale Christian College is to be a biblically directed learning community. Everyone and everything in this community serves this purpose. Each person in the College community has been gifted by God to make his or her contribution to the learning and teaching for which God has brought the College into being. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>College requirements </b></p><p>All staff are required to: </p><p>• Perform their responsibilities in a manner which reflects the College’s mission, objectives and philosophy. In particular, staff are expected to role model an active Christian faith that will be demonstrated in part by an active involvement in the wider Christian Church. </p><p>• Be Christian role models and examples to all people associated with the College. </p><p>• Participate in leading College devotions that involve staff and students and attendance at the staff retreat. </p><p><br /></p><p><b><u>Essential Duties and Responsibilities </u></b></p><p><b>EISM Weekly Sports Program </b></p><p><b>General duties </b></p><p>• Work alongside the Health and PE Coordinator in the development of the sport curriculum. This involves regular review of program offerings, assessing student needs and interests, meeting the requirements of the EISM Association, and providing resources for the development of new programs. </p><p>• Liaise with the Deputy Principal – Head of Secondary and Health and PE Coordinator in relation to: </p><p>           o Staffing and coaching requirements; </p><p>           o College sporting events; </p><p>           o Coaching; </p><p>           o Completion of risk assessments; and </p><p>           o First aid requirements. </p><p>• Manage and support weekly sport staff to help facilitate their coaching requirements </p><p>• Organise EISM sport teams through facilitating signups, tryouts and collating sport coaches&#39; selections. </p><p>• Organise the Sports/Recreation program for students not involved in teams. </p><p>• Organise sport folders (team lists, scoresheets, rules, policies) for each sport team/group. </p><p>• Communicate weekly with the relevant EISM schools, confirming venue and team details. </p><p>• Communicate the weekly sports details with the students via Schoolbox. </p><p>• Communicate the weekly sports details with the sports staff via Microsoft Teams. </p><p>• Collate and submit the weekly match results to online results platform (JARO). </p><p>• Book venues and facilities required for the weekly sport and recreation programs. </p><p>• Liaise with Secondary Admin in relation to booking weekly transport (buses) requirements. </p><p>• Attend quarterly meetings with the Sports Coordinators from the EISM Association. </p><p>• Work alongside the Student Sports Leaders to help deliver their sporting initiatives and responsibilities. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Coaching </b></p><p>• Coaching three sport periods per week. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>EISM Carnivals </b></p><p>• Coordinate, plan and attend all EISM carnivals. </p><p>• Select the EISM carnival squads for the Swimming, Athletics and Cross-Country Carnivals. </p><p>• Coordinate staff and allocate roles prior to and during the carnivals. </p><p>• Communicate with the EISM Executive Officer regarding EISM carnivals. </p><p>• Develop training programs for swimming, athletics and cross-country squads. </p><p>• Communicate with parents and students regarding selection and carnival details. </p><p>• Liaise with Secondary Administration in relation to booking transport (buses) requirements. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>House Carnivals </b></p><p>• Attend and coordinate all College House carnivals. </p><p>• Book venues required for house carnivals. </p><p>• Work alongside the student house leaders to assist them in their role. </p><p>• Enter program in ‘Sportstrak’. </p><p>• Coordinate ‘Sportstrak’ entries. </p><p>• Coordinate staff and allocate roles prior to and during the carnivals. </p><p>• Assist with set up/pack up on carnival days. </p><p>• Communicate with parents and students regarding information about selection and carnival details. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Umpires </b></p><p>• Book umpires/referees required for the weekly EISM competition. </p><p>• Organise payment for the booked umpires/referees. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Resources </b></p><p>• Organise and maintain required sports equipment and kits. </p><p>• Organise and maintain team uniforms. </p><p>• Order new equipment and uniforms, when required. </p><p>• Organise the engraving of EISM Trophies, as required. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Budget </b></p><p>• Assist the Health and PE Coordinator with preparing the Sport budget for submission. </p><p>Community Hub venue bookings </p><p>• Receive and co-ordinate internal bookings of the various spaces in the community hub. </p><p>• Liaise with the Risk and Compliance Manager for external bookings of various spaces in the community hub. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Other duties </b></p><p>• Attendance at school camps as required. </p><p>• Attendance on excursions as required. </p><p>• Identify and endorse students who qualify for School Sports Victoria trials. </p><p>• Other duties as required. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Minimum Qualifications and Experience: </b></p><p>• Strong written and oral communication skills. </p><p>• Excellent organisational skills. </p><p>• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. </p><p>• Warm and welcoming personality and ability to relate to staff, students and parents. </p><p>• Ability to work as part of a team. </p><p>• Working with Children Check. </p><p>• Current first aid certificate. </p><p><br /></p><p><b><u>College Expectations </u></b></p><p>All staff are expected to: </p><p>• Perform their responsibilities in a manner which reflects the College’s mission, objectives and philosophy.
