<p>St Anne’s Education Learning Support Officer (LSO) Position Description </p><p>Rationale </p><p>Schools are made up of a range of students who work in different ways. At St Anne’s we are committed to educating the whole person. While all students need a personalised curriculum particular students may need more support to access the curriculum successfully. Learning Support Officers are one way of giving extra support to the classroom program to ensure all students&#39; needs are met. They are able to complement the work of the teacher and help to create an inclusive learning environment. It also provides another significant adult for the students concerned to support them in their well-being. </p><p>Duties </p><p>● Assist students learning in specific learning areas and tasks either individually or in a group, under the specific and direct supervision of a teacher. </p><p>● Prepare appropriate curriculum activities for the instructional support of students under the direction of the classroom teacher </p><p>● Provide assistance with the preparation and distribution of learning materials. </p><p>● Assist student learning where discretion and judgement is required (including providing more individualised approaches and intervention strategies and assisting in identification of learning needs and evaluation of progress.) </p><p>● Ensure that students are clear about their Learning Intentions and Personal Goals. </p><p>● To document student progress by taking adequate notes to communicate students successes or challenges or any other relevant observation.</p><p>Student Wellbeing. </p><p>● Provide basic physical, social and emotional care for students. </p><p>● Attend to ill or injured students and administer first aid. </p><p>● Demonstrate duty of care to students in relation to their wellbeing. </p><p>General Duties </p><p>● Contribute to a healthy and safe work environment for yourself and others and comply with all safe work policies and procedures. </p><p>● Attend school meetings and events as required by the Principal. </p><p>● Demonstrate professional and collegiate relationships with colleagues. </p><p>Child Safety </p><p>● Be familiar with and comply with the school’s child-safe policy and code of conduct, and any other policies or procedures relating to child safety. </p><p>● Assist in the provision of a child-safe environment for students. </p><p>● Must have a Working with Children Check card and must undergo a National Police Record Check. </p><p>Skills/attributes </p><p>● Ability to work as part of a team. </p><p>● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. </p><p>● Good oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with children, parents and staff </p><p>school community. </p><p>● Manage tasks with minimal supervision. </p><p>● Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships. </p><p>● Sound organisational skills including strong attention to detail. </p><p>● Proven time management skills. </p><p>● Ability and willingness to accept policy directives. </p><p>● Ability and willingness to accept feedback. </p><p><br /></p><p> </p>
