Orana Steiner School is looking for a dynamic leader both inside and outside the classroom, who is looking to make a real difference in shaping Orana’s educational community. the successful candidate may additionally be considered for the role of Coordinator of Arts and Design.

<p><b>About the Role</b><br /></p><p>This position is primarily a Visual Arts Teacher position. The successful candidate will require the ability to teach in an additional technology area, which will form a smaller part of the role. Depending on skills and experience, the successful candidate may additionally be considered for the role of Coordinator of Arts and Design. </p><p>The Creative Arts and Design Technologies program at Orana aims to give all students a holistic and deep emersion in Arts and Design subjects, empowering them to be confident makers and critical thinkers. We are seeking to appoint a curriculum leader with a background specialisation in Fine Arts and a broad knowledge of the Creative Arts and Design subjects to commence at the beginning of the 2023 school year. Within the guidelines of the Australian Steiner Education Curriculum Framework, you will work creatively and collaboratively to lead a high-profile faculty, to shape a curriculum that is an integral part of our school identity. </p><p>Using your proven leadership and experience, you will plan, lead and implement a high-quality Arts and Design curriculum, grounded solidly in the philosophy and principles of Steiner Education and in line with our core principles, vision, mission and values. Using your specialised subject knowledge and leadership qualities you will be responsible for leading Drama, Visual Arts, Textiles, Digital Design, Photography, Design Technology, and our more specialized Handwork and Outdoor Classroom subjects from years K-12. You will teach specialised and elective Visual Arts subjects, including Senior College, and the ability to teach some Design Technology subjects is desirable. </p><p><b> </b></p><p><b>About You</b><br /></p><p>To be successful in this role, you will require:</p><ul><li>Teaching experience in the Visual Arts, including Art History, and a broad knowledge of Design Technology subject areas across a range of year levels is desirable. </li><li>An excellent knowledge Art History/Traditional and Contemporary Arts Practices, Design History and Architecture. </li><li>Ability to work in traditional, contemporary and emerging artistic media and processes </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead a team of staff, motivate and inspire young people and communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, volunteers and support staff </li><li>Manage and administer individual subjects, resources, facilities, budgets, WHS processes </li><li>A proven ability to teach Senior Visual Arts, (the ability to teach senior Design Technology is highly desirable). </li><li>The ability to integrate technology into classroom practice </li><li>A deep knowledge of ACARA Arts curriculum from Years 7 to 10 </li><li>Knowledge and experience of effective teaching and learning practice based on an inquiry model </li><li>A willingness to participate enthusiastically in the School’s pastoral and co-curricular program </li><li>A cultural understanding and respect of people from all backgrounds; and </li><li>A strong commitment to student welfare.</li></ul><p>The right person for the job will: </p><ul><li>Have exemplary and innovative pedagogical skills </li><li>Be committed to ongoing professional development </li><li>Be capable of leading and delivering a dynamic and effective curriculum area </li><li>Be organised, energetic and self-directed </li><li>Have a clear and progressive vision of leading a large creative faculty </li><li>Have a commitment to further personal development through anthroposophical study and artistic activity; and </li><li>Have an active interest and enthusiasm to engage with the Steiner curriculum. </li></ul><p><b>Qualifications</b><br /></p><ul><li>Formal teaching qualifications, specialising in Visual Arts Practice and or Art History. </li><li>Steiner training is desirable but not essential. </li></ul><p><b>Legal Requirements</b><br /></p><ul><li>Current ACT TQI Registration (or eligible to obtain). </li><li>Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WwVP) registration (or eligible to obtain). </li></ul><p><b>Salary and Conditions </b></p><p>Our school operates under the <a href="https://www.fwc.gov.au/document-search/view/aHR0cHM6Ly9zYXNyY2RhdGFwcmRhdWVhYS5ibG9iLmNvcmUud2luZG93cy5uZXQvZW50ZXJwcmlzZWFncmVlbWVudHMvMjAyMi8zL0FFNTE1MjM4LnBkZg2/3/8d22f6b2-b1b3-4a78-8e20-0853248d2246/orana%24%24steiner%24%24school%24%24canberra" rel="nofollow">Independent Schools NSW Teachers (Hybrid Model) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021</a>.
