The Food Tech Assiatnt provides assistance in the form of support to teachers, individuals and/or groups of students in a classroom setting.

<p><b>Location: </b>Nagle College - Blacktown South</p><p>The Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta is looking for a passionate and skilled Food Technology Assistant to provide support and assistance to our teachers.</p> <p>Food Technology Assistants are accountable for:</p> <p>-Employees are required to support the mission, teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church’s work in schools.</p> <p>-Demonstrated ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team</p> <p>-Demonstrated ability to follow direction, prioritise and meet set deadlines</p> <p>-Demonstrated interpersonal skills in working with a range of personnel</p> <p>-Strong planning and organisation skills</p> <p>-Demonstrated ability to maintain the quality of assigned work</p> <p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p> <div> <ul> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Preparation of ingredients for practical lessons including provision of bulk ingredients for students to measure, as well as pre-measuring ingredients for groups where time is limited</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Preparation of teacher demonstration ingredients, equipment and cleanup afterwards.</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Preparing/cooking ingredients and setting up lesson for taste test and sensory analysis lessons</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Administration tasks relating to recipe card preparation (printing and laminating), room signage, equipment cards for drawers and cupboards, etc.</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Flexibility in supporting teacher and student during / within practical lessons to manage ingredients, source additional equipment&nbsp;</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Preparation and cooking of ingredients and recipes to assist teachers with demonstrations (e.g. making batches of icing, baking cakes, prepping key ingredients)</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Overseeing the planned maintenance and cleaning schedule of appliances, electrical equipment, ovens etc.</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Regularly ensuring equipment / appliances / utensils are located in the allocated storage areas of each bay within the food technology kitchens</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Detailed cleaning of the kitchens</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Risk Assessment Management and filing documents / ensuring staff utilising the space are trained, etc.</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Maintaining food stocks to a high level of food safety including labelling/ freezing and appropriate turnover/ disposal of stored food items&nbsp;</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Monitoring freezing and defrosting of ingredients for lessons&nbsp;</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Ensuring that sufficient stocks of all cleaning materials for the department are maintained&nbsp;</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Washing of aprons, tea towels etc.</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Organise cleaning ovens, sharpening of knives and pest control (half yearly)</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Work collaboratively as a member of a team</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Involvement in School activities and relevant functions</li> <li style="list-style-type: disc">Organising the Textiles storage room&nbsp;</li> </ul> </div> <p dir="ltr"><strong>Typical Experience and Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Tertiary qualifications in the relevant area of study</li> <li>Appropriate demonstrated experience</li> <li>Food Safety Certificate would be highly regarded</li> </ul> <p dir="ltr"><strong>The Organisation</strong></p> <p dir="ltr">Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment across 83 primary and secondary schools and within early learning and out of school hours care centres in Western Sydney.&nbsp;</p> <p dir="ltr">This position involves working with children.
