Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) comprises 38 Catholic schools with more then 20,000 students enrolled across the Illawarra, Macarthur, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands regions.

<p><b>Location:</b> Emmaus Catholic Education Centre, Macarthur</p><p>The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this permanent full time position of Education Officer, Student Wellbeing K-12, commencing 16 January 2023 until 26 January 2026.&nbsp;The initial appointment will be for this period of time after which an equivalent teaching position will be negotiated within the system of schools.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>This position requires supporting students K–12 in both the Illawarra and Macarthur Regions of the Wollongong Diocese who have particular social, emotional and behavioural needs. The role will be based at the Emmaus Catholic Education Centre in the Macarthur.&nbsp; The support is mainly focused on primary school settings, however some support will be required for secondary school students. The role will include working in collaboration with principals, CatholicCare Counsellors, Special Education Coordinators and other members of the SI-SS Team in responding to the social, emotional, behavioural needs and developing individual support plans for students, as well as implementing, monitoring and evaluating these plans. The position also involves supporting schools and parents with enrolments and or&nbsp; transitions of students into schools, and other educational settings. An additional aspect of the role requires supporting schools with the implementation of a Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) approach to managing behaviour.</p> <p>The successful applicant will also be required to work closely with members of the SI-SS Team and others in developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating ongoing personal and professional learning formation and growth experiences for school staff and others.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:</p> <ul> <li>A sound understanding of and a willingness to support the mission and purpose of a Catholic school.</li> <li style="text-align: left">Some experience in implementing the principles of a PBL approach, and/or similar behavioural framework.</li> <li style="text-align: left">Experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating individual plans for students related to their social and emotional, and behavioural needs, preferably in a secondary school environment.</li> <li>Demonstrated commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents and the wider school community.</li> </ul> <p>DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA:</p> <ul> <li>Evidence of formal study in the areas of social and emotional, and behavioural support for students and/or special education of students.</li> <li>Experience as a middle leader or above in a school setting.</li> <li>Demonstrate some understanding and/or experience in dealing with mental health issues for students.</li> <li>Demonstrate some understanding of the Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) program.</li> <li>Demonstrate an understanding of CEDoW&nbsp;<em>Path to life: A Framework for Pastoral Care and Wellbeing,&nbsp;Diverse Learning Needs Policy</em> and <em>Student Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Policy.</em></li> </ul> <p>The following GENERAL CAPABILITIES are applicable to the role:</p> <ul> <li>Well-developed oral and written communication skills.</li> <li>A commitment to ongoing personal and professional learning formation and growth.</li> <li>Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills and evidence of a capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.</li> <li>Competent Information and Communication Technology skills.</li> </ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Teaching qualifications.&nbsp;</li> <li>Minimum 5 years teaching experience.</li> <li>Accredited to Level C in accordance with the To Work, Teach and Lead Policy, or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment within CEDoW.</li> <li>The applicant must be accredited with NESA to teach in NSW.</li> </ul> <p>WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE</p> <p>This role is classified as child-related work and therefore a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment at CEDoW.</p> <p>POSITION APPLICATION&nbsp;</p> <p>To confidentially discuss your application, contact School Improvement Services Specialist Support Cindy Williams on 4250 9309 or Paul McCann on 4250 9301</p> <p>Applicants are to complete an online application and to briefly address the essential criteria (equivalent to 2-3 pages) and submit a short CV (2-3 pages).</p> <p>To submit your application please select the 'Apply Now' button at the bottom of this advertisement.</p> <p><em>The Catholic Education Office is an agency of the Catholic Church called to stewardship and service in support of the system of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong.
