Brigidine College is seeking to appoint an engaging and passionate educator to join our dynamic, vibrant and highly successful Visual Arts team as the Head of Department. This is a full-time permanent 2 point coordinator position commencing 27 January 2023.

<p><b>About You</b><br /></p><p>Brigidine College is looking for an exceptional educator who is energetic, passionate and innovative. Our preferred candidate will have the experience and ability to teach Stages 4, 5 and 6 Visual Arts and to lead and manage a dynamic Visual Arts Department. You will either possess recent middle management experience or be actively working towards a role in leadership. In addition, you will be:</p><ul><li>An innovative and dynamic educator and leader who has the ability to motivate and guide teachers in the faculty to ensure they maintain a high level of education.</li><li>Passionate about teaching and learning, ensuring you are constantly researching the latest changes to curriculum and ensure the Visual Arts Department remains progressive.</li><li>Exceptional time management and organisational skills.</li><li>Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, staff and parents.</li></ul><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>ROLE OF HEAD OF DEPARTMENT</b></p><ol><li>A Head of Department (HoD) ensures that the Brigidine Vision, Mission, Philosophy and Values are actively promoted.</li><li>A Head of Department provides leadership and support to staff to ensure quality teaching and learning within the subject area by developing their strengths.</li><li>A Head of Department organises, facilitates, implements and evaluates all aspects of the administration of the department.</li><li>A Head of Department has oversight of staff for the implementation and maintenance of effective professional development and wellbeing of staff within the department.</li><li>A Head of Department promotes his/her department.</li></ol><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>KEY RESULT AREAS AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA</b></p><p><b>1. Essential</b></p><p>The Head of Department will have:</p><ul><li>appropriate tertiary qualifications to teach Secondary Visual Arts in NSW</li><li>excellent knowledge of the NSW Visual Arts Curriculum</li><li>successful teaching experience with Stages 4, 5 and 6 Visual Arts classes</li><li>willingness to work with and learn new technologies</li><li>ability to lead an energetic and productive team</li><li>up-to-date knowledge of modern teaching techniques</li><li>excellent communication skills</li><li>ability to integrate ICT effectively into the classroom</li></ul><p><b>2. Desirable</b></p><p>The Head of Department will have:</p><ul><li>successful leadership experience in a school setting</li><li>a commitment to the teaching of Visual Arts through curriculum development and engagement in professional organisations or associations</li></ul><p><b>3. General</b></p><p>The Head of Department will:</p><ul><li>provide effective development, implementation and supervision of the Visual Arts curriculum</li><li>engage with the Principal and Executive staff in developing the quality of teaching and learning in Visual Arts as part of Brigidine’s Strategic Plan</li><li>ensure excellence in teaching and learning strategies that cater to the learning needs of all students</li><li>provide a dynamic, effective, innovative leadership and management of Visual Arts staff and model innovative and best practice in the classroom</li><li>keep abreast of the current pedagogies in the teaching of Visual Arts as they pertain to the teaching of girls</li><li>have excellent knowledge of the NESA Visual Arts curriculum</li><li>have excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>have excellent interpersonal skills that facilitate and encourage excellence in others</li><li>implement and lead in the integration of new technologies in teaching and learning</li><li>provide for the care and welfare of students in line with the School’s core purpose and values</li><li>act as a mentor to girls in the student Pastoral Care program</li><li>support and attend School and community events</li><li>perform additional duties as allocated by the Principal from time to time</li></ul><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><p><b>1. Curriculum Focus</b></p><p>The Head of Department will:</p><ul><li>ensure that the Visual Arts department is compliant with NESA with regard to specific courses, assessment procedures, criteria and record keeping disseminate curriculum information to the Visual Arts department</li><li>ensure all teaching and learning programs and teacher reflection evaluations are completed by the Visual Arts staff</li><li>review all teaching and learning programs to reflect changes that support best practice and compliance to NESA</li><li>lead and develop differentiation across the curriculum through teaching and learning programs and assessment procedures</li><li>monitor the academic progress of students and take appropriate actions to target learning and improve practice in the classroom</li><li>initiate, develop and integrate the use of ICT literacies across the teaching and learning programs</li></ul><p><b>2.
