The guidance and wellbeing support of students is an integral component of the educational vision and mission at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School and focusses on -- Student wellbeing -- School and community We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and dedicated Chaplain - Mentor to join our close-knit school community.

<p>We have a fixed term, .8 FTE position available for the remainder of the 2022 school year. </p><p><b>In this role, you will be expected to</b>: </p><p>Operating within the school framework of positive relationships The School Chaplain aims to support and encourage each child in their quest for excellence. </p><ul><li> Fostering the integrity, self-esteem and dignity of each person. </li><li> Inspiring a positive vision for the future. </li><li>Promoting reconciliation. </li><li>Promoting an active partnership between home, parish, school and community. </li><li>Praise and encouragement of high, realistic expectations. </li></ul><p><b>To be successful in this role, you will be able to meet the following criteria: </b></p><p>The school chaplain-mentor works with all students within the St Mary’s School setting, from Transition to Year 6 as well as Parents/Guardians, Colleagues and Professional Associates. </p><p><b>School chaplain-mentor activities include</b>: </p><ul><li>assisting children and families to integrate into the new school community </li><li>smoothing the transition between schools and different educational systems (including minimising the impact of relocating, on children’s learning outcomes) </li><li>monitoring social, emotional and academic wellbeing of students </li><li>helping students develop self-confidence, self-reliance, resilience and persistence </li><li>direct students to programs, services or opportunities that suit their needs </li><li>provide support to children during times of hardship or family disturbance.</li></ul><p>This position involves working with children.
