Galilee School is seeking a number of Teachers who can provide disadvantaged and vulnerable young people a supportive teaching and learning environment. Commencing from the beginning of the 2023 school year.

It means supporting them in their education, learning and skill-building, and supporting the school in offering an alternative model of education.</p><p><b>About the role  </b><br /></p><p> Galilee School is a growing, dynamic school seeking a number of new staff members to join our highly trained and committed team from Term 1 2023. Your flexibility, outstanding behaviour management and team work skills will be a critical part of this role. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and positive behaviour management or willingness to learn about these would be essential. Registered teachers with Primary and/or Secondary experience would be suitable for these roles.  </p><p>Under guidance and support of the Head of Teaching and Learning, the Teacher position works closely as part of the Galilee School team to develop and implement lessons and programs in line with the Australian Curriculum and the Galilee School Student Support Framework, in addition to supporting the students in their day-to-day studies and activities at the Galilee School. This role will commence in Term 1, 2023.</p><p> Applications are invited from interested candidates able to demonstrate a passion for working with disengaged and vulnerable students.   </p><p> Applicants are required to submit an application letter, outlining their suitability for the positions, to a maximum of 2 pages plus submit a current resume. </p><p> These are full-time opportunities. The potential exists for part-time opportunities also via negotiation with successful applicants.  </p><p> <b>Duties  </b></p><ul><li>Plan, prepare and deliver quality and effective teaching and learning programs which are consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and relevant syllabi, curriculum, policies, work programs and educational trends </li><li>Maintain teaching competency and currency of knowledge of relevant curriculum programs required by the school or other relevant statutory authorities </li><li>Assist in the preparation of Individual Learning Plans [ILPS] for students in collaboration with the Head of Teaching and Learning </li><li>Assess students [diagnostic, formative and summative] for development, feedback and reporting purposes </li><li>Provide for the social, cultural and emotional wellbeing and the physical safety of students whilst at school and enhance their overall development towards effective citizenship and responsible adulthood through participation in timetabled, non-timetabled and planned extracurricular activities </li><li>Maintain student records and samples of work and report on student performance to student&#39;s parents/carers, and other relevant stakeholders </li><li>Complete the writing of incident and accident reports as required in a timely manner </li><li>Participate as appropriate in school decision making processes and professional development </li><li>Participate in both school staffing meetings, school curriculum meetings, professional focus days and Communities&#64;Work organisational meetings as required </li><li>Assist in the Transportation of students to support their attendance at the school&#39;s academic, social and emotional programs. </li></ul><p><b>Skills and Experience </b></p><p> <u>Essential  </u></p><ul><li> Relevant qualification in Teaching/Education </li><li>Current or eligible to achieve registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute [TQI] </li><li>Substantial demonstrated experience of strategic development of Learning, Teaching and Educational program(s) </li><li>Confidence and experience in the design, development and implementation of units of work based on the Australian Curriculum and differentiation across a variety of learning abilities </li><li>Knowledge of the broader academic field including the Australian Curriculum </li><li>Ability to develop, implement and monitor case and support plans for the assessment of educational, emotional and support needs of students at the school </li><li>Ability to communicate with diverse audiences which include staff, parents and the wider community </li><li>High level interpersonal skills and cooperative work practices and the ability to contribute to a positive and cohesive team </li><li>Willingness to adhere to, and work within, the strategic vision, direction, and philosophy of Communities&#64;Work Galilee School </li><li>Maintain current &#39;Working with Vulnerable People&#39; registration</li><li>Mental Health First Aid Training (or able to obtain) </li><li>Personal experience of collaborative practices in a similar school environment and a sound knowledge of learning and pedagogy for a similar student cohort is desired</li></ul><p><u>Desirable </u></p><ul><li> Personal experience of educational management and collaborative practices in a similar school environment and a sound knowledge of learning and pedagogy for a similar student cohort </li><li>Demonstrated understanding of the Positive Behaviour Support Framework, Restorative Practices and/or other related best practice models</li><li>Demonstrated understanding of the ACT Senior Secondary Certificate</li><li>Current driver&#39;s licence </li></ul><p><b>Benefits </b></p><ul><li>Make a difference and change lives in the Canberra community as part of Canberra&#39;s largest community organisation </li><li>Join an inclusive and friendly workplace, where people are at the heart of everything. </li><li>Increase your take-home pay!
