<p><b>Head of Acceleration </b></p> <p><b>Immediate Start - Term 4, 2022 or by negotiation </b></p> <p>St Mark’s College seeks a visionary, dynamic educational leader to be a Faculty Coordinator of the College&#39;s high intake of accelerant students. </p><p>Acceleration is the ability for students to progress through a course in a quicker time frame, by completing the course entered in earlier than the usual pattern of course time, thus permitting them to accelerate through to the proceeding level earlier than is usual. </p><p>St Mark&#39;s College has a large intake of Mathematics Accelerants, who progress through from Stage 4 Mathematics in an accelerated schedule, thus allowing them to complete the Stage 6 Higher School Assessment and HSC examination in Year 11.</p><p>The Head of Acceleration will lead, oversee and implement the College&#39;s Acceleration Policy &amp; Procedures.</p><p>Test, track, identify and communicate potential candidates for the College&#39;s Acceleration program. </p><p>Have a sound understanding of Stage 4 - 6 Mathematics Syllabi, and experience in Mathematics Extension I and II is preferred, yet not mandatory. </p> <p>The Head of Acceleration will need to showcase, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal whilst exhibiting exceptional organisational skills, to track and monitor accelerant students in the program. This will require, the Head of Acceleration to work closely with the Head of Mathematics and communicate regularly with the Director of Teaching &amp; Learning. </p><p>The College Acceleration program is integral to achieving the school vision and will lead students to discover and make the most of their talents, to thrive in and to love the pursuit of excellence.  To achieve this vision, the Head of Acceleration will lead  teaching staff through effective Professional Learning, effective methodologies, and planning and creation of programs that build and constantly develop the growth of our student’s spiritual, academic, physical and social requirements.<br /></p> <p>Founded in 1996, St Mark’s College is a high achieving Independent school located in Wattle Grove in South-West Sydney. Through its relatively short history, St Mark’s College has been a consistent high achieving school with a focus on academic achievement and encourages and enables all of our students to explore, enjoy learning and to fulfil their potential. </p> <p>The successful candidate will be a dynamic, collaborative, knowledgeable and an experienced academic leader possessing a love of teaching and a deep understanding of all NESA administrative requirements, curriculum and pedagogy, including up to 0.6 fte responsibility for Yrs 7 – 12 Acceleration implementation and instruction, and a Mathematics teaching load.  This middle management position reports directly to the Head of College, Deputy Head of College and Director of Teaching and Learning and is responsible for the academic acceleration program and progress of Years 7 to 12, including curriculum, assessment and reporting and NESA compliance in the area of Acceleration.  Experience in the development, implementation and review of policy and demonstrable administrative skills in project management and database management are essential. </p><p>This role has a Mathematics teaching load and is remunerated at the Coordinator Two level.</p> <p> Applicants must be a practicing Christian and committed to the full life of the College and its Coptic Orthodox ethos.   The scale applied to the successful applicant will be based on the level of experience in this, or similar roles of responsibility.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>Applications in writing are to include a CV, the names, addresses and telephone numbers of three referees (one referee must be of a Patoral nature - priest, clergy, pastor) and address the scope of the requirements outlined in the Role Description within a cover letter.   </p> <p><strong>Applications close 30th of September           Sent to: recruit&#64;stmarks.nsw.edu.au</strong></p>
