Teaching Level: Primary
Sacred Heart School is part of St. Mary’s Parish in Colac in South Western Victoria.
St. Mary’s School and Trinity Secondary College complete the parish schools.
Together with St. Brendan’s, Coragulac and St Joseph’s, Pirron Yallock, they make up the Colac-Otway Catholic Schools Network.
The Sacred Heart School community incorporates families from both Colac city and surrounding rural areas where children access a network of buses which service local schools over an area from the south coast to Cressy, north of Colac.
Community involvement is encouraged through participation in sporting events and support for local celebrations such as the Christmas Pageant.
At Sacred Heart School we endeavor to live our Vision statement: “Sacred Heart is committed to the enjoyment and adventure of learning. Our family community is inspired by the Gospel. We respect the dignity of all through acceptance, openness and trust.”
We are committed to faith in education through a school-based religious program and involvement of children in Parish Sacramental programs.
Our school programme is organized into four levels corresponding with the Curriculum Standards Framework. We offer a comprehensive, sequential curriculum in all Key Learning Areas. Social and academic learning outcomes are maximized through quality teaching practices using a curriculum that is purposeful, relevant and life-long.
We have a strong commitment to children’s literacy and numeracy and proudly offer several programs throughout the school to maximize learning opportunities for each child.
