Due to the retirement of the current Deputy Head of Junior School an exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to join our team at Manning Valley Anglican College as our new Deputy Head of Junior School. An opportunity not to be missed!

<p><b>About us </b></p><p>The Newcastle Anglican Schools Corporation aims to establish, promote, ensure effective governance, and support Anglican schools within and outside the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle. </p><p>There are four schools that form part of the Newcastle Anglican Schools Corporation including Scone Grammar, Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College, Manning Valley Anglican College and Lakes Grammar – An Anglican School. </p><p>Manning Valley Anglican College (MVAC) is an Anglican School in the Diocese of Newcastle. We value learning, the development of the whole child, fostering the well-being of the individual; and seeking to grow students of good character who will contribute meaningfully to society. </p><p><b>About the role: </b></p><p>This position reports directly to the Head of Junior School as well providing leadership for the K-2 and 3-6 Coordinators in the Junior School. It will include a teaching load, supporting enrichment activities (support / extension) across Key Learning Areas. It also collaborates with the wider Junior School staff and key Senior School teams. </p><p>The Deputy Head of Junior School is a member of the following: </p><p>• Junior School Leadership Team </p><p>• K-12 Teaching and Learning Team </p><p>• Whole School Executive Team </p><p><b>Your key responsibilities will include: </b></p><ul><li>Liaise with the Head of Junior School on school matters and deputise in their absence.</li><li>Maintaining a teaching load.</li><li>Undertake student/parent/staff interviews as directed by the Head of Junior School.</li><li>Be an active member of the Junior School Leadership team and School Executive team, contributing to the overall leadership and management of the school.</li><li>Act as an escalation point for matters of discipline and student/family management for the coordinators. Ensure that any necessary documentation regarding meetings and discipline matters is kept up to date and stored in accordance with School policy.</li><li>Implementing excellent teaching practice, as described in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, including classes, supervision and other duties as allocated from time to time.</li><li>Using the Learning Power Approach framework consistently to design, deliver and evaluate student learning.</li><li>Differentiating learning and assessment to meet the needs of individual students according to the Learning Power Approach.</li><li>Assessing and reporting on student learning, with an emphasis on assessment as, of and for learning.</li><li>Reflecting on and contributing to the ongoing development of faculty and team programs, pedagogy and curriculum.</li><li>Participating in the School’s pastoral care of students, which may include attendance on overnight camps and preparation of pastoral reports.<br /></li></ul><p><b>Essential criteria: </b></p><ul><li>Appropriate teaching qualifications and current NESA registration</li><li>Tertiary qualifications in Education, with a focus on leadership, learning and teaching</li><li>Demonstrated experience in educational leadership with a record of achievement in leading school change and development</li><li>Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to lead by example and delegate effectively</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills to ensure the ability to effectively negotiate, resolve conflict, motivate, and engage staff<br /></li></ul><p><b>What are the benefits? </b></p><p>Our team are the heart of what we do here at Manning Valley Anglican College, and Newcastle Anglican Schools Corporation.
