The Riverina Anglican College is seeking a Coordinator of Students with Additional Needs (SWANS) to commence in Term 1, 2023. The Coordinator of SWANS has the responsibility for the overall development, implementation and evaluation of the services provided by the SWANS Department. The Coordinator is employed as a Head of Department, teacher and member of teaching/learning and welfare teams.

<p>The Riverina Anglican College is seeking a Coordinator of Students with Additional Needs (SWANS) to commence in Term 1, 2023. </p><p>The Coordinator of SWANS has the responsibility for the overall development, implementation and evaluation of the services provided by the SWANS Department. The Coordinator is employed as a Head of Department, teacher and member of teaching/learning and welfare teams. </p><p>The Role </p><p>The Coordinator of SWANS assists the school to cater for students in regular classes and on individual programs, who are experiencing difficulties in basic areas of learning, regardless of the cause of such difficulties. The Head of SWANS is responsible for the leadership and management of all Student Support staff and teachers’ aides. The Head of SWANS reports to the Deputy Principal – Academic. </p><p>Student Support: </p><ul><li>Prepare applications for NESA and liaise with health professionals in regard to Special Provisions. </li><li>Manage assessment process for students who have been referred to the department. </li><li>Develop Individual Plans for students including, attendance, transition, learning and educational plans. </li><li>Provide programs for students within the classroom, small groups and individually. </li><li>Consult with the school counsellor and network with other support providers inside and outside the school to provide expertise in catering for the needs of students. </li><li>Monitor student progress and keep accurate and appropriate records. </li><li>Monitor student progress, reviewing and evaluating programs related to student outcomes. </li><li>Provide intervention for students where appropriate. </li><li>Assess students requesting special provisions. </li></ul><p>Staff Support: </p><ul><li>Support staff with the implementation of Individual Plans. </li><li>Devise professional development for staff regarding support issues. </li><li>Communicate with class teachers about the welfare and learning needs of students. </li><li>Provide consultation time with regular class teachers for negotiation of differentiated assessment and curriculum adjustments for students on Individual Plans. </li><li>Devise a flexible timetable which allows for consultation with class teachers. </li><li>Provide strategies for teachers to use within the classroom situation. </li></ul><p>Parent/Caregiver Support: </p><ul><li>Provide opportunities for communication with support staff and parents. </li><li>Involve parents in the development of Individual Plans for students. </li><li>Refer parents to other support and medical services for the appropriate diagnosis and treatment. </li></ul><p>Located in Wagga Wagga in the picturesque Riverina region of NSW, The Riverina Anglican College is an International Baccalaureate World School within the Anglican Diocese of Canberra/Goulburn. The College opened the first stage of the Junior School Build and welcomed K-6 students for the first time in 2021.
