Role Objective Oversee the operations of the Wadeye Literature Production Centre (LPC), including production, cataloguing and archiving of educational resources. Manage and provide training to local design and production team to ensure that the school has the capacity to produce high quality culturally responsive resources on site in Wadeye.

<p><b>Context Statement </b></p><p>Wadeye is a large remote Aboriginal community situated approximately 400km south-west of Darwin with a population of around 3000 people on Kardu Diminin land. The vast majority of local Aboriginal people speak Murrinhpatha as a first language. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Thamarrurr Catholic College (OLSHTCC) is a bilingual school, teaching literacy in both Murrinhpatha and English. The Wadeye Literature Production Centre (LPC) is an integral part of the school. The LPC was founded in 1979 and since then has continued to produce resources to support education in Murrinhpatha and other Aboriginal languages of the surrounding region. The primary purpose of the LPC is to produce and develop educational resources for use in the school’s Murrinhpatha language, culture and RE programs. These resources reflect the lives of our students and help students to know truthfully and hold on to things about their country, kin, dances, songs, totems and dreaming stories, as well as to pursue their faith in a language that they think in and understand. </p><p>Applicants must present a passion for bilingual education and a deep respect for Aboriginal People and Culture and willingness to support the Catholic ethos of the College. </p><p>A successful applicant will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law and will require a NT Working with Children Card. Teacher Linguist</p><p><br /></p><p><b>College Requirements </b></p><p>• Support the Catholic ethos of the College. </p><p>• Support the Vision and Mission statement of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Thamarrurr Catholic College. </p><p>• Support the Northern Territory Catholic Education Vision and Mission Statement. </p><p>Personal Accountabilities </p><p>• To respect and model the Gospel values in all interactions with people in day-to-day life. </p><p>• To be active, collaborative, authentic, professional and relational members of the College community. </p><p>• To support a school culture that empowers students to think critically, discern wisely and value the search for truth. </p><p>• To openly and honestly provide support to colleagues through collaboration, public support of other colleagues, and maintaining the dignity of all people within our school community. </p><p>• To openly and honestly enter into dialogue with the Principal and Leadership team with relevant issues where necessary and appropriate. </p><p>• To display passion, commitment, professionalism, integrity, knowledge, and expertise. </p><p>• To demonstrate forward thinking and openness to change. </p><p>Key Duties and Responsibilities </p><p>• Coordinate and support the production of new – paper and digital – and reproduction of Murrinhpatha educational resources in consultation and cooperation with the Teacher Linguists, RE coordinator, local production and design team, teachers and community members as appropriate </p><p>• In collaboration with the Teacher Linguists and RE coordinator, plan and implement an appropriate literature production schedule </p><p>• Supervise and support the LPC production and design team in the development and production of high-quality educational resources </p><p>• Mentor and provide professional development for local team in a culturally sensitive manner, especially regarding graphic design and the use of IT </p><p>• Lead the LPCs data management and archiving work, ensuring that digital resources are secure, well documented and easily accessible in the future </p><p>• Provide technical advice, support and professional learning where appropriate to LPC and Murrinhpatha program staff </p><p>• General LPC administration including ordering production supplies </p><p>• Maintenance of production equipment and WHS requirements to maintain a safe workspace </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Selection Criteria </b></p><p>- The ability to work and interact positively as part of a team in a bilingual, intercultural context with Aboriginal co-workers, educators, linguists and other professionals </p><p>- Experience in digital print production including an advanced knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, AfterEffects and Premiere Pro </p><p>- The ability to use and maintain a range of literature production equipment </p><p>- The ability to train and mentor Aboriginal staff in design and production in a respectful, culturally responsive way </p><p>- The ability to project-manage in a clear, organised and collaborative manner </p><p>- Current Ochre Card (Working with Children’s check) or ability to obtain one on selection </p><p>Desirable </p><p>- Tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design, Publishing, Community Development, or other relevant discipline </p><p>- Experience in training adults and/or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment </p><p>- Experience in an LPC or Language Centre working with Aboriginal languages </p><p>- Experience in a Mac based design studio </p><p>- Knowledge and experience of best practice cataloguing and archiving standards </p><p>- Knowledge of copyright law and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property </p><p>• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply. </p><p><br /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
