An understanding of Gifted Education practices is desirable to help facilitate a fulfilling OSHC service for our brilliant students.

<p>Dara School is the first and only school in Australia specialising in the education of Gifted students. Increasing enrolments have created an opportunity for Dara School to establish an Out of School Hours Care service to support our families. The OSHC is due to commence on site at Dara School in Term 3, 2022. The role of the OSHC Educator is to contribute to our progressive culture providing a safe, and nurturing environment that allows children to learn and expand their interests through positive and active experiences. An understanding of Gifted Education practices is desirable to help facilitate a fulfilling OSHC service for our brilliant students. </p><p>This contract position is for 17.5 hours per week (across Monday to Friday afternoons during school terms only) and will require the Educator to work within OSHC operating hours. A job share arrangement is possible for the right candidate/s. </p><p><b>After School Care</b>: 2.30–6.00pm (Occasional morning work may be required 6:45am – 8:30am.) </p><p><b>Student Free Days</b>: 6.45am – 6.15pm </p><p><b>Salary</b>: Pro Rata $64,899 </p><p><b>Reports to</b>: Dara School OSHC Director </p><p><b>Contract Duration</b>: Terms 3 and 4 (Monday to Friday) </p><p>The contract includes a probation period of 3 months from commencement. At this time the Principal and Business Manager will review suitability of the role with the OSHC Educator and whether an extension of the contract will be considered. Towards the conclusion of the contract period, the tenure of the OSHC Educator role may be negotiated to become a permanent position. </p><p><b>Key Responsibilities </b></p><p>The successful applicant will be responsible for key educational support of the day-to-day operations, education planning and administration of the OSHC Service ensuring that you:</p><ul><li>Support students to achieve their learning and social goals.</li><li>Work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team.</li><li>Proven ability to establish effective, high quality working relationships with teachers and students. Participate in some of the planning, organisation, and implementation of small group activities.</li><li>Participate in the preparation of resources.</li><li>Develop the necessary understanding in using the relevant IT systems adopted by Dara School as appropriate.</li><li>Develop a basic understanding of intellectual giftedness as appropriate for work within a classroom environment at a school for gifted students.</li><li>Successful experience in working effectively with students and class teachers to develop and implement a learning program that meets the needs of students with disabilities, ASD, learning difficulties and challenging behaviours.</li></ul><p><b>Qualification </b></p><p>Certificate III or Diploma in Out of School Hours Care or Children’s Services or relevant Degree or Early Childhood Education qualification is essential. </p><p><b>Knowledge and Experience </b></p><ul><li>Sound knowledge of national quality framework (NQF.) </li><li>Sound knowledge of recognised School Age Care Framework. </li><li>Experience interacting with groups of children from 5 -12 years of age. </li><li>Ability to support the OSHC Director with planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate programs for children reflecting the multi-cultural and social nature of the community. </li></ul><p><b>Additional Requirements </b></p><ul><li>Current Working With Children Check </li><li>Current RRHAN-EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care) </li><li>Current First aid training (HLTAID004 or HLTAID012) </li><li>Current CPR (HLTAID001 or HLTAID009) </li></ul><p>If you would like a confidential discussion about the school or the position, please contact us on principal&#64;daraschool.sa.edu.au or call 08 8317 6020.<br /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
