We are seeking an Education Support Officer with previous skills in working with students with additional needs. This is a 0.4 fixed term position of two days per week in the junior years.

<p>The role of the Education Support Officer is vital to the daily running of the school. They work closely with the Classroom Teacher in delivering the adjustments required to ensure all children are given every opportunity to an inclusive education. </p><p>All employees of Don Bosco Catholic Primary School will ensure that they demonstrate:<br /></p><p> </p><p><b><u>Wellbeing and Child Safety<br /></u></b></p><p><i><b>Commitment to building a Child Safe Culture - </b></i></p><p>Implement strategies which promote a Child Safe, inclusive and positive learning environment in accordance with the school’s Child Safe policy and code of conduct </p><p>Be familiar with and comply with the school&#39;s policies and procedures relating to Child Safety in accordance with Legislative requirements </p><p><i><b>Commitment to embedding a Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support - </b></i></p><p>Proactively monitor and support student wellbeing and positive behaviour (enact positive behaviour support strategies where this includes the use of language that supports and ensures the dignity of the student and colleague is upheld at all times).</p><p>Ensure an awareness of processes with regards to responding to specific strategies or behaviours for individual students as assigned </p><p><b><u><i>The following are a list of duties carried out by the Education Support Officer</i></u></b></p><p><b>Student Support </b></p><ul><li>Student support will be the bulk of the Education Support Officers role. They will enact the following duties (though at times will be asked to complete tasks relative to their level of employment as directed by the Principal): </li><li>Assisting student learning, where discretion and judgement is required</li><li>Participate in the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of student learning and programs</li><li>Under the general supervision and direction of teaching staff, undertake specialist assistance to students in specific learning areas e.g. languages, technology, the Arts<br /></li></ul><p><b><u>Providing basic support to students within defined principles and parameters</u></b><br /></p><p><i>Duties Include: </i></p><ul><li>Prompt presence in the classroom ready to begin work at the start of each shift and after breaks. </li><li>Find out and have an up to date knowledge of the learning and social behaviours of the students with additional needs in each classroom you are placed in - from classroom teachers and community leaders. </li><li>Find out and have an up to date knowledge of the strategies identified for each student with additional needs in the classroom you are placed in and implement these if and when required. </li><li>Identify your duties within the classroom prior to entering each day (classroom teacher to provide and ESO to access. These will include leading a small group task as designed by the teacher with an academic and or social focus. Actively supporting the whole class to complete tasks, setting up and tidying after a learning task, assisting children with digital technologies and actively supervising students with and without additional needs on the yard. </li><li>At times the learning tasks you lead will require you to problem solve with particular attention to modifying the task or implementing strategies for students with behaviours of concern. </li><li>Monitoring and leading the toileting and eating of students with additional needs as per health plans. </li><li>Keep the school allocated iPad charged and ready to take notes during the school day. </li><li>Have all notes recorded prior to leaving work on each school day and saved in the relevant file. </li><li>Engage in positive behaviour support language when working with students and when talking about them to relevant staff. </li><li>Keep all observations with regards to students confidential. </li><li>Take direction from a higher level ESO or teacher/leader. </li><li>Complete administrative tasks as assigned by the classroom teacher promptly.<br /></li></ul><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
