Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) continues to be a thriving and growing contemporary educational community with over 150 schools, more than 71,000 current students, 10,000 staff and a large alumni community.<br /> <br /> <strong>The Role</strong><br /> <br /> Reporting to the Supervisor: Diverse Learning Regulation, the position of Speech Pathologist - Complex Communication Disorders provides a range of high-level professional advice, assistance, operational support and professional learning to schools. This role is focused on developing the capacity of teachers to better understand and actively respond to the learning needs of students with complex speech, language and communication needs within mainstream classrooms.<br /> <br /> This is a unique opportunity to work within the education sector amongst a team of dedicated professionals supporting K-12 students with diverse learning needs.<br /> <br /> The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>providing active leadership to the implementation of NCCD processes at the school and system levels</li> <li>regular onsite visits across our network of 150 schools</li> <li>demonstrating a strategic outlook, understanding educational trends and remaining abreast of emerging research in the area of complex speech, language and communication needs</li> <li>utilising evidence-based practice within the role and delivering remote and in situ, tailored professional learning to school and system personnel in the area of complex language and communication disorders</li> <li>strengthening teachers' and diverse learning team members' capacity to effectively integrate the use of assistive technologies, including AAC</li> <li>using high-level interpersonal, communication and influencing skills to effectively and collaboratively develop learning adjustments and interventions</li> <li>building and maintaining teacher knowledge around the ongoing use of assessments and sustainable adjustments and/or interventions that support student learning needs</li> <li>using appropriate strategies such as coaching, mentoring and facilitating to build teacher capacity</li> <li>engaging staff and team members in data analysis to monitor and inform student learning</li> <li>completing standardised and dynamic assessments for students with sensory disability and/or when complex issues arise</li> <li>developing collaborative relationships with families to assist and support understanding, complex speech, language and communication disorders and the educational implications of such conditions</li> <li>thinking and planning strategically with the ability to initiate, implement and evaluate change</li> <li>building professional partnership networks with industry and academics to enhance learning opportunities for students.</li> </ul> <p><br /> <strong>About You</strong><br /> <br /> We are seeking a caring, professional candidate with the following experience, skills and knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>graduate qualifications in Speech Pathology</li> <li>membership of Speech Pathology Australia</li> <li>five years or more Speech Pathology experience with students who have a range of disability (including sensory impairment) and learning difficulties, with a particular focus on complex communication disorders</li> <li>evidence of successfully achieving innovative and sustainable changes in work practices within an organisation</li> <li>ability to identify or collect appropriate data, for example, assessment data or data surrounding a target behaviour to make appropriate decisions or evaluate outcomes</li> <li>ability to work with sensitive and confidential information</li> <li>experience liaising with a wide range of stakeholders</li> <li>capacity to select and support appropriate school improvement projects based on data analysis</li> <li>strong time management skills demonstrated through self-direction and oversight of a range of work tasks such as multiple quality improvement projects, periods of increased workload, consultation surrounding individual students and delivery of professional development sessions</li> <li>a current driver's licence.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p> <ul> <li>experience in working with students who have physical disabilities, together with a knowledge of feeding, swallowing and meal time management</li> <li>post-graduate qualifications in Speech Pathology, Education or Allied Health</li> <li>experience within a school-based environment is an advantage.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What we offer</strong></p> <ul> <li>flexible working arrangements/ hybrid workplace</li> <li>annual salary of $116,118 + super and salary packaging</li> <li>a supportive and professional team, inclusive of the opportunity to work with other Speech Pathologists</li> <li>professional development opportunities.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Application Process</strong><br /> <br /> To apply for this position please click on the APPLY button and follow the prompts.<br /> <br /> To support your application, you will be required to provide:</p> <ul> <li>current resume</li> <li>cover letter</li> </ul> <p>If you encounter technical issues or for any general enquiries please contact the People &amp;
