The curriculum at St Mary MacKillop College is undertaken in an environment where each person is valued and respected as an individual whose personal growth is of paramount importance.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><strong><br>About the Role</strong></span></p> <p>St Mary MacKillop College welcomes students of all abilities, and aims to provide the education experience that helps every student be the best they can be. Classroom Support Assistants (CSA) including those CSAs engaged as Aboriginal Education Workers (AEW) &nbsp;are vital members of the Inclusive Education Team whose role is to help achieve this objective.</p> <p>AEWs in particular &nbsp;have responsibility for working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. AEW presence is also aimed at helping to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the classroom environment, and all other related activities, supporting the role of classroom teacher, faculty and College.</p> <p>AEWs work under the day to day professional direction of the &nbsp;Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Contact Teacher, and reprt to the Inclusive Education Coordinator.&nbsp; AEWs will work under the local direction of classroom teachers when&nbsp; assigned to particular students or classes.</p> <p>The AEW positions may be located at either the St Mary MacKillop College Padua Campus Wanniassa (Yr &nbsp;7-9) or the St Peter’s Campus Isabella (Yr 10-12). There will be a requirement from time-to-time to travel between campuses during the day, and to attend Campus and Cross-Campus Inclusive Learning Support Meetings.</p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif"> <br><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></span></p> <ul> <li>Support the College Vision, promoting an atmosphere where Catholic principles and practices flourish in a welcoming, diverse community.</li> <li>Promote, support and work to the St Mary of the Cross Mackillop and Josephite Christian ethos.</li> <li>Value for the sacredness of each person and attentive to the aspirations and needs of individuals.</li> <li>An understanding of the principles of child protection and confidentiality.</li> <li>The ability to prioritise tasks, manage time, plan and organise one's own work to ensure deadlines are met.</li> <li>Ability to work autonomously without supervision.</li> <li>Highly professional manner and strong interpersonal skills with a courteous, calm and welcoming demeanour.</li> <li>The ability to positively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and build productive working relationships.</li> <li>Be able to demonstrate broad knowledge and understanding of the impact of culture, cultural identitiy and linguistic background on the education of students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.</li> <li>Understand and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to promote reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians</li> <li>Be able to demonstrate broad knowledge of, understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and languages.</li> </ul> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><em>Please refer to the role description for an in-depth detail regarding criteria and skill set required.<br></em></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><strong><br>Application Process</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Applications are invited from interested candidates able to demonstrate a commitment to the vision of Catholic Education.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and current resume including a statement of suitability against the skills, attributes and experience as outlined in the position description.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif">This position involves working with children.
