<p>The Leader of Learning is key to enabling the growth and transformation of learning for teachers and students through the implementation and embedding of Living Well Learning Well. Leaders of Learning Lead from the Middle (Grootenboer et al 2020), enhancing teacher capacity to engage students to improve learning outcomes. The Leaders of Learning work collaboratively together and with teachers, to enhance the professional learning and practice of the Effective Learning Cycle. Leaders of Learning support all those in specific learning areas in and across Armidale Diocese Catholic Schools. The Leader of Learning seeks to create and support authentic professional learning for all which energises, motivates and leverages change in educational culture. The Leader of Learning ensures a focus on developing a professional learning team with an emphasis on data. They foster teacher capacity and student growth and academic wellbeing.</p><p><b>Commencement </b></p><p>The commencement date for this position will be as soon as possible or as negotiated with the successful applicant. </p><p><b>Position Purpose </b></p><p>The Leader of Learning supports the Principal and the Leadership Team in the instructional leadership of the teams, and is an active member of the middle leadership team. It is essential that the person in this role has the capacity to model quality learning and teaching, undertakes professional reading, and has an ability to translate theory into action. </p><p>This role works collaboratively with the leadership team, to lead effective curriculum implementation of one or more KLA. The successful applicant will also lead the Middle Leadership Team on one or more of the following: </p><ul><li>Pedagogy and the 5 High Impact Strategies</li><li>Mentoring/Coaching (AITSL) - ECTs/Proficiency</li><li>Programing, transition and mapping</li><li>Assessment, moderation/data, reporting</li></ul><p>This role assumes professional capabilities consistent with ‘Highly Accomplished’ and/or ‘Lead’ Australian Professional Standards for Teachers descriptors developed by the Australian Institute of Teachers and School Leadership, although accreditation at this level is not a requirement. </p><p>Together with other leaders, the Leader of Learning works to ensure that the College is characterised by: </p><ul><li>Whole school and system approaches based on the Core Catholic Principles and Values that develop physical and mental health and fitness, prayer, social skills, emotional intelligence and resilience.</li><li>A relentless focus on learning for all students.</li><li>A collaborative culture and collective effort to support student and adult learning.</li><li>A results orientation to improve practice and drive continuous improvement.</li></ul><p><b>Selection Criteria</b></p><p><b>Essential Criteria:</b></p><ul><li>Demonstrate an understanding of Living Well Learning Well: A Student Support Framework 2020 and Strong Instructional Leadership (2020). </li><li>A capacity to lead and professionally develop staff in areas of academic care, positive social behaviours and problem solving skills, inquiry cycle planning and other aspects of contemporary education and pedagogy. </li><li>Capacity for authoritative, instructional leadership. </li><li>Capacity to lead colleagues to develop and regularly evaluate learning and teaching programs that reflect a comprehensive knowledge of curriculum, assessment and reporting. </li><li>An informed understanding of the role of formative and summative assessment in providing feedback that advances student learning. </li><li>Capacity to lead colleagues to develop differentiated teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of students from diverse linguistic, cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. </li><li>Capacity to lead and support colleagues to ensure the full participation of students with a disability in compliance with legislative and Diocesan policies. </li><li>Ability to effectively engage, communicate and mediate with students, families and staff. </li><li>Ability to work as part of a team, build a model team and contribute positively to staff professional culture Demonstrated expertise as a classroom practitioner. </li><li>Appropriate teaching qualifications, experience and current proficiency with NESA.</li></ul><p>Desirable Criteria:</p><ul><li>Teaching and/or leadership in one of the following learning areas:<br />- Creative Arts<br />- Mathematics<br />- Science<br />- Technologies</li></ul><p><b>Application</b></p><p>For questions regarding the professional nature of this position, please contact St Mary’s College on (02) 6742 2124. </p><p>Before submitting your expression of interest, please ensure the following: </p><ul><li>You have carefully read the position description and ensure you understand the role you are applying for and that it is suited to your skills, experience and qualifications.<br /><br /></li><li>Complete the relevant online application form by <a href="https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DRYTLL9" rel="nofollow">clicking here</a> and attach a cover letter (optional) and CV that clearly outlines your qualifications and career history.</li></ul><p><b>Vaccination Requirements </b></p><p>All NSW school staff are required to have received two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine or have a valid contraindication medical certificate in accordance with the <a href="https://legislation.nsw.gov.au/file/Public%20Health%20%28COVID-19%20Vaccination%20of%20Education%20and%20Care%20Workers%29%20Order%202022.pdf" rel="nofollow">Public Health (COVID-19 Vaccination of Education and Care Workers) Order 2022</a>.
