To work as a member of the team providing educational support to Aboriginal & Islander students. Assisting in the development of effective links between the school, parents and carers, to build relationships and maintain students interest in learning

<p><br /></p><p><b>KEY DUTIES</b></p><p>1. Provide classroom support to help ensure that Aboriginal &amp; Islander students are able to work effectively in classrooms and on school programs </p><p>2. Maintain an effective liaison with parents/carers to help ensure that parents are able to be supportive of their children as students of the school </p><p>3. Maintain liaison with all people who provide support to Aboriginal &amp; Islander students </p><p>4. Supervise students during activities </p><p>5. Supervise homework centre </p><p>6. Prepare light refreshments on homework days </p><p>7. Work with the Aboriginal &amp; Islander Education Coordinator to promote Aboriginal &amp; Islander celebration within the College </p><p>8. Liaise with staff and students between the campuses</p><p> </p><p><b>Essential Criteria: </b></p><p>1. Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education </p><p>2. Demonstrated skills in cross-cultural communication </p><p>3. Demonstrated ability to relate to Aboriginal &amp; Islander people when providing a liaison service </p><p>4. Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision in the liaison role </p><p>5. Ability to work with teachers in the delivery of appropriate and challenging programs to Aboriginal &amp; Islander students </p><p>6. Experience in providing a liaison service, which involved close contact with Aboriginal &amp; Islander people </p><p>7. Knowledge of the range of Aboriginal &amp; Islander cultures in the NT context</p><p>8. Be of aboriginal origin/identify as an aboriginal</p><p> </p><p>9. Higher education certificate </p><p><b>Desirable Criteria: </b></p><p>1. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with all school staff </p><p>2. Experience working in schools providing support for classroom programs </p><p>3. Ability to see projects through to completion </p><p>4. Knowledge of school structures and learning programs </p><p>5. Ability to speak Arrernte </p><p>6. Bus License </p><p>7. Evidence of further studies</p><p> </p><p><b>Qualifications Required</b>:</p><p>All  applicants must be eligible to gain and maintain a current NT Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card)</p><p>Current Drivers Licence</p><p> </p>
