Science Faculty Head

<p>The Headmaster is seeking to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced Christian educator to this full-time permanent position. The successful candidate will be expected to be a leader of teaching and learning, able to inspire the Science Faculty towards achieving a culture of excellence. A willingness to collaborate across faculties and work with the Head of Junior School and Head of Middle School is essential. They will have a demonstrated understanding of independent school culture. They will seek to contribute to a culture of professionalism, self-reflection, improvement and participation in the broader life of the School.</p><p>The successful candidate will be thoroughly familiar with the curriculum and current trends at the national and international levels regarding the teaching of Science K-12. Ideally, they will be an experienced teacher with postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field and capable of teaching HSC classes, including Extension Science. The staff of Macarthur are beneficiaries of an Apple laptop computer (for the duration of employment), a supportive Christian teaching environment and well-resourced facilities within the newly constructed Warren Integrated Studies HUB. </p><ul><li>Candidates for this role will be required to demonstrate:<br />a passion for teaching and deep knowledge of the syllabus content, notably Stage 6, including Extension Science;</li><li>a passion for Science and how it integrates with other subjects;</li><li>an innovative approach to teaching and learning;</li><li>a comprehensive understanding of classroom differentiation; and,</li><li>a commitment to detailed and timely feedback to students.</li></ul><p>The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate an innovative use of ICT in teaching and learning, proficiency in writing teaching programmes, and an understanding of best practices in student assessment and feedback. The desire to contribute to the outdoor education and co-curricular programmes that provide a rich experience for our students and a rewarding sense of job satisfaction for our teachers is imperative.</p><p>Applications for these positions are only accepted via the Teaching Staff Online Application Form.
