We are seeking a motivated and suitably experienced Technology Assistant to work directly with the Wood Technology Teacher and provide wider support to the Technology department at the College on a Casual contract for 7 weeks.

<p> </p><div>St Francis Xavier College is a Catholic College with a 2022 enrolment of 3300 students which will continue to grow in 2023.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The College serves families from the parishes of Berwick, Koo Wee Rup, Maryknoll/Iona, Narre Warren and Pakenham under the governance of Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited (DOSCEL).</div><div><br /></div><div> </div><div>St Francis Xavier College is easily accessed via several major freeways – only 20 minutes on the M1 from Springvale Road. </div><div><br /></div><div>We are seeking a motivated and suitably experienced Technology Assistant to work directly with the Wood Technology Teacher and provide wider support to the Technology department at the College on a Casual contract for 7 weeks.</div><div><b><br /></b></div><div> </div><div><b>Key responsibilities include:</b></div><div><b><br /></b></div><div><b> </b></div><ul><li>Support staff and students during Wood Technology </li><li>Devise and initiate a schedule with the approval of the Director of Learning Culture to ensure time is allocated adequately </li><li>Adhere to College Occupational Health and Safety Standards </li><li>Continue to develop new safe work practices as the department changes or includes new facilities, machines, equipment and tools </li><li>Assist staff and students through pre-planning, preparation and cutting of various materials and the use of power industrial tools and cutting machines that will assist in prepping students&#39; work </li><li>Maintain all static machines within the learning areas </li><li>Ensure cleanliness of all equipment, and machines within all rooms within the department </li><li>Source workable and reliable suppliers for materials, machines, equipment and tools </li><li>Make sure that budgets are not compromised by overspending on non-necessary equipment or surplus equipment </li><li>Assist in the maintenance of the Horticultural centre </li><li>Assist with distribution of deliveries and in some instances pick up and deliveries </li><li>In conjunction with the Director of Learning Culture, ordering and purchasing of goods and materials associated with the curriculum </li><li>Be responsible for ensuring equipment is operated in a safe manner </li><li>Servicing of machinery &amp; equipment and tools daily </li><li>Ensuring the cleanliness and housekeeping of areas associated with the personal work area </li><li>Keep records of safe handling and use of chemicals and up to date risk assessments on machines </li><li>Any other duties as directed by the College Principal, Vice Principal or Director of Learning Culture</li></ul><div><b>To excel in this position, you will have the following skills, experience and attributes:</b></div><div><br /></div><ul><li>Technical skills in Wood Technology</li><li>Can effectively build and maintain relationships </li><li>Has a commitment to Occupational Health and Safety </li><li>Demonstrates strong organisation skills </li><li>Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students and colleagues </li><li>Flexible and adaptable to changing conditions </li><li>An understanding of and commitment to Catholic education</li></ul><div>Staff are employed under the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2018.</div><div><br /></div><div> </div><div><b>Applications close Monday, 30 May 2022 at 5:00pm.</b></div><div><br /></div><div> </div><div>The successful applicant will also be required to undergo a Working with Children Check and National Police Check prior to commencement.</div><div><br /></div><div> </div><div>The St Francis Xavier College community is committed to the safety, wellbeing, protection and inclusion of all children in our care. </div><div><br /></div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div>
