We are seeking an experienced School Counsellor to join our community on a permanent full-time basis.

<p><i>Christian Brothers’ High School, Lewisham is an independent Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition catering for 1,300 boys from Years 5-12. We understand the unique learning needs of boys and supports each student on their own journey. As a non-selective school we are committed to providing quality education to all students. </i></p><p><i>Combining education, spirituality and social justice we aim to develop young men of integrity and compassion who will become valued members of the community. At Christian Brothers’ High School Lewisham, we focus on the boy to grow the man. </i></p><p>We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced School Counsellor to join our Pastoral care team. In this role, you will work closely with students to ensure their emotional, social and wellbeing needs are being met. You will provide support to teaching staff as well as families on how to best support these students. </p><p><b>In this role, you will: </b></p><ul><li>Provide support and professional advice to students in the areas of wellbeing and mental health </li><li>Support teachers and families by providing them an understanding of student mental health concerns and strategies to assist these students’ in their overall development </li><li>Assess and refer students to specialist agencies for clinical, therapeutic, medical diagnosis and treatment. </li></ul><p><b>About you: </b></p><ul><li>You have recognised qualifications in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work </li><li>You have experience in working with children and/or adolescents and their families to address various mental health, developmental and learning concerns. </li><li>Ability to implement evidence based intervention strategies </li><li>Ability to triage based on need and urgency </li><li>You possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills and able to liaise with a range of stakeholders </li><li>Excellent organisation, time management and record keeping skills </li><li>You’re interested in helping meet the educational and wellbeing needs of young men </li><li>You are willing to support the Catholic ethos of the School </li></ul><p>Any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory employment background screening.
