Discovery College is looking for a Primary Classroom Teacher to join the community. Successful candidate strategically plans lessons and ensures the delivery of high-quality teaching to meet each student's individual learning needs.

<p><b>Job Description </b></p><p>Discovery College is looking for an experienced educator to fill the position of Class Teacher in the Primary School to start in August 2022. It is a mainscale teaching position for a suitable candidate who has an understanding of the IB PYP curriculum framework. </p><p>Discovery College is an all-through school located in Discovery Bay, Lantau Island. </p><p><b>Job Summary </b></p><p>The main role of the classroom teacher is to maximise student learning and development through the planning, preparation and teaching of the curriculum to meet students’ individual learning needs and achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers teach a range of student abilities and classes and are accountable for the effective delivery of their curriculum. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection in order to improve their knowledge and skills to better engage students and improve their learning. </p><p><b>Main Accountabilities </b></p><p><b>Teaching and Assessment </b></p><ul><li>Use own professional role to ensure that the College is able to deliver on the 5 DC Outcomes for every student </li><li>Plan lessons and sequences of lessons to meet students’ individual learning needs and to ensure students’ progression </li><li>Use a range of appropriate strategies for teaching and learning and classroom management </li><li>Use flexible groupings and structured inquiry to deliver high quality lessons in line with the IBO philosophy </li><li>Maintain a well organised and stimulating learning environment </li><li>Use learning technologies to enhance learning </li><li>Use information about prior attainment to set expectations for students </li><li>Use a range of assessment and reporting methods that make students’ achievement visible in relation to learning outcomes </li><li>Provide clear and constructive feedback to students and their parents and caregivers </li></ul><p><b>Wider professional roles </b></p><ul><li>Plan and engage in professional learning activities that support College and systemic priorities </li><li>Take responsibility for own professional development and use the outcomes to improve teaching and students’ learning </li><li>Make an active contribution to the policies and aspirations of the College </li><li>Ensure administration of classroom procedures is completed efficiently </li><li>Collaborate positively with members of the school community to build a team environment that supports students’ learning </li><li>Participate in Quality Assurance and School Improvement in order to ensure high standards of professional practice and student outcomes </li><li>Utilise the Professional Reflection and Development process to ensure own professional development and support for organisational priorities </li></ul><p><b>Additional responsibilities may include </b></p><ul><li>Manage a year level or subject area </li><li>Assist with or managing an aspect of daily school management </li><li>Assist year level co-ordinators, curriculum co-ordinators, student management co-ordinators, principal and vice principal with the performance of specific functions </li><li>Assist with or managing a specialist function such as sport, careers, student welfare, excursions or camps coordination </li><li>Supervise a range of student activities including support and welfare programmes </li></ul><p><b>Core Capabilities/ Competencies Required </b></p><ul><li>Adaptability </li><li>Analysis / problem solving </li><li>Collaboration </li><li>Communication </li><li>Team work </li></ul><p><b>Minimum Typical Education </b></p><ul><li>Bachelor Degree in Education, or Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent </li></ul><p><b>Minimum Typical Experience </b></p><ul><li>An understanding of the IB and the key underpinnings of the curriculum frameworks is essential </li></ul><p><b>NOTE: Two Years Finite Contract </b></p><ul><li>Contribute to the school extra curricular programme throughout the year </li><li>Participate in key school and PTA events on identified evenings and weekends </li><li>Contribute to the Education outside the Classroom Programme, including by leading residential excursions in urban or rural locations, in Hong Kong or overseas, as required </li></ul><p><a href="" rel="nofollow">Please click here for more information about the position</a> </p><p><b>Teaching in Hong Kong </b></p><p>Hong Kong is a premier destination for expatriate and local teacher.
