Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) comprises 38 Catholic schools with more then 20,000 students enrolled across the Illawarra, Macarthur, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands regions.

<p><b>Location:</b> Catholic Education Office, Wollongong</p><p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this full time permanent position with Catholic Education, Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) commencing as soon as possible.</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">This position sits within the Workplace Safety and Wellbeing Team, a dynamic and energetic sub-team that contributes to the broader People and Culture service area through the design and delivery of a comprehensive workplace safety and wellbeing framework.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">This role will focus on supporting our Catholic primary and secondary schools as well as our office sites with the return to work of injured/ill workers as quickly and safely as possible</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">SCOPE OF THE ROLE:</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The key function of the role is to provide expertise for the management of compensable and non-compensable injury/illness of staff and be a return to work advocate across the Diocese.</span></p> <ul> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Provide a high level of support in the area of Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management to school and office sites within CEDoW.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Manage the CEDoW Workers Compensation portfolio from start to finish whilst being the primary contact between the employer, worker, insurer, medical provider, and other external parties.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Keep up to date with current and emerging workers’ compensation legislation and how this impacts the education sector.</span></li> </ul> <p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:&nbsp;</span></p> <ul> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">An understanding of and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic system of schools.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Demonstrated experience in Workers’ Compensation claims management and return to work as an employer.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Demonstrated experience in managing complex return to work cases through early identification of return to work barriers and implementation of effective strategies.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Demonstrated ability in designing transition back to work plans.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Demonstrated capacity to nurture positive relationships with all stakeholders throughout the development and management of return to work programs.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Demonstrated capacity to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to represent the organisation in an honest, ethical, and professional way.</span></li> </ul> <p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA:</span></p> <ul> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Knowledge of and/or experience working in the education sector.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">An understanding of common injuries, treatment options, and medical terminology.</span></li> </ul> <p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">GENERAL CAPABILITIES</span></p> <ul> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Excellent interpersonal skills.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Excellent oral and written communication skills.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Ability to maintain confidentiality and display discretion.</span></li> </ul> <p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE&nbsp;</span></p> <ul> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Tertiary qualifications – degree qualified preferred – occupational therapy, exercise science &amp; rehabilitation, human resources, health, psychology, or other related disciplines.</span></li> <li dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">At least 3 years working in the area of injury management.</span></li> </ul> <p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif">This role is classified as child- related work and therefore a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required before your employment with CEDoW.</span></p> <p>Applicants
