Groundsman - School Operational Services - Permanent full time (38 hpw)

St Francis de Sales Regional College in Leeton are looking for a suitably experienced Groundsman to undertake a permanent position with them commencing ASAP!
<p><b>Days of work: </b>Monday to Friday</p><p><b>What we can offer:</b><br /></p><ul><li>Permanent full-time position commencing as soon as possible.</li><li>Salary: Dependent upon qualifications (Unaveraged - works during school break).</li></ul><p><b>Your new role:
</b></p><p>The Groundsman is responsible for the caretaking, upkeep and improvement of College grounds, gardens and hardscape areas, through regular watering, top-dressing, fertilizing, mowing, and weeding. This includes (but is not limited to) in and around school buildings, the College oval, the Agricultural Science plot and the outdoor courts area. </p><p>The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:</p><p>Maintain and develop the grounds, oval and grassed areas and garden beds. This will include;</p><ul><li>Maintenance of all garden beds, by weeding, mulching, fertilising, planting out and replacing as necessary and at the correct time.</li><li>Pruning of all flowers, shrubs and trees at the appropriate time.
</li><li>Watering of gardens and grounds, including the pre-ordering of water.
</li><li>Applying pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or other chemicals to soil, weeds, plants or other surfaces as required.
</li><li>Mowing and trimming all cultivated grass areas, plus attending to the nature strips and footpaths surrounding the College.</li></ul><p>Develop new gardens and plantings;</p><ul><li>Provide advice and proposals with ideas that will enhance the College environment.
</li><li>Create new landscape areas as directed from time to time.</li></ul><p>General Duties:</p><ul><li>Maintain machinery, tools and equipment, ensuring that they are in a safe working order and are stowed appropriately.
</li><li>Maintenance of fences and gates, ensuring that they are safe and in good working order.
</li><li>Ensure College Oval activities are catered for, assisting teaching staff with the marking for Athletics, football, cricket, etc. as required.
</li><li>Maintain sheds and surrounds in a neat, tidy and safe manner.
</li><li>Garbage duty, including cleaning and lining bins and coordinating collection. Pick up rubbish as required.</li><li>Other duties as directed by the Principal and his/her delegate, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying a position of this classification.</li></ul><p><b>About Leeton:

</p><p><b>What you will need to succeed (Selection Criteria):
</b></p><ul><li>Support for the Catholic ethos of the College.
</li><li>Certificate in Horticulture or similar
</li><li>Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
</li><li>Willingness to work as part of a team
</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of supervision
</li><li>Be able to perform strenuous physical labour on a daily basis
</li><li>Excellent organisational skills
</li><li>Experience operating machinery and gardening equipment
</li><li>Experience maintaining machinery and equipment
</li><li>Current Drivers licence (at least LR preferred)</li><li> Willingness to engage in further training as required</li></ul><p><b>Highly Desirable qualities:</b></p><ul><li>Knowledge of plant types and species
</li><li>Knowledge of landscaping methods and techniques
