Education Support Officer - Ongoing Monday to Friday 9am - 3.30pm

<p>Fluency in all or one of the following languages would be advantageous: Dinka, Nuer, or Arabic </p><p>The role of the Learning Support Officer, as outlined in the duties and responsibilities below, is to support teachers in catering for the learning needs of the students. </p><p>The Learning Support Officer will report directly to the classroom teacher but will also work under the guidance of the Teaching and Learning Leader. </p><p>If applicant does not have a Certificate in Education Support they must be willing to undertake this course be be considered for this role. </p><p><b>KEY SELECTION CRITERIA</b>: </p><p>The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate: </p><p>A commitment to the ethos, values and mission of Catholic education. </p><p>A commitment to Child Safety. </p><p>An ability to take initiative and manage competing priorities. </p><p>A willingness to keep observational notes on students’ learning progress and attention to tasks. </p><p>Proven capacity to work both within a team and independently </p><p>An ability and willingness to support the physical, social, educational and emotional needs of the students </p><p>A willingness to undertake professional learning opportunities relevant to the role and the needs of the students </p><p><b>DUTIES: </b></p><p>Assist with ensuring students reach an accelerated growth in their learning by: </p><p>Explaining teaching points and ensuring instructions given by teachers are understood by the students </p><p>Working with small groups under teacher direction </p><p>Reading stories to children on an individual or small group basis, or hearing them read </p><p>Implementing specific programs to support students’ learning and wellbeing </p><p>Recording teachers’ lessons to make them available for students to revisit </p><p>Preparing for specific lessons </p><p>Working individually with students to support their learning </p><p>Supporting students to focus on reaching their ILP goals </p><p>Attending SSG meetings and positively contributing to the discussion around students’ progress and their learning needs </p><p>Creating learning resources as requested by teachers </p><p>Assist with monitoring identified students’ behaviours, social interactions and learning progress by: </p><p>Shadowing identified students on the playground and recording observations of their behaviour and interactions </p><p>Monitoring students’ engagement and work output </p><p>Keeping records of students’ engagement and learning progress, particularly in relation to any learning goals that have been set for students </p><p>Providing feedback at PLCs and individually to teachers, about students’ learning progress and attitudes </p><p>Reporting any concerns about students’ progress and/or wellbeing directly to the class teacher </p><p>Following up on SSG recommendations, as requested by the teachers </p><p>Applications close Monday 13th December 2021 at 4pm. </p><p>Please forward your CV (including 2 Referees) to info&#64;stacbourne.catholic.edu.au </p><p><b>Employer questions </b></p><p>Your application will include the following questions: </p><p>Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia? </p><p>Do you have a current Working With Children (WWC) Check? </p><p>Which of the following statements best describes your Covid-19 vaccination status? </p><p>Have you completed a qualification in education support? </p><p>Which of the following First Aid accreditations do you currently hold? </p><p><br /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
