<p><b>Selection Criteria</b></p><ol><li>A desire to support the Christian ethos of the school.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current teaching and learning approaches within the Australian Curriculum, specifically HPE.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to plan and implement engaging learning experiences and programs, including differentiation for students with additional needs.</li><li>Understanding of how students from Prep – Year 6 learn, and to develop effective teaching strategies and the capacity to monitor and assess student learning needs to inform teaching practice.</li><li>High level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop constructive relationships with children, parents, colleagues, other staff, and the wider school community.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to organise and deliver events such as Interschool Sport as well as annual events such Athletics Carnival, Swimming Carnival etc.</li></ol><ul><li>Additional coaching of sporting teams before and/or after school will also be required.</li><li>Coaching qualifications and experiences across several sports would be advantageous.</li></ul><p>In addition to the requirements of being a member of our teaching staff, the Physical Education Specialist is required to execute the following responsibilities, or demonstrate the required characteristics to:</p><ul><li>Cultivate a love of exercise and physical activity, whilst encouraging students, staff, and families to understand the importance of developing physical and mental health.</li><li>Demonstrate and guide student capacity for excellent sportsmanship, as well as age and situation appropriate competitive aspirations.</li><li>Demonstrate clear and effective communication with staff, parents, and local community sporting groups.</li><li>Collaborate with School Leadership and the whole school community</li><li>Develop a fair and inclusive ‘game sense’ into activities undertaken during lessons, that allow students of all abilities, opportunities to experience success, but also foster resilience and determination.</li><li>Demonstrate the ability to cater for students with disabilities in physical activities.</li></ul><p><b>Qualifications Required</b></p><p>Relevant 4-year (or postgraduate equivalent) tertiary qualification, including a specialisation area of health and physical education or human movement. </p><p>Applicants must submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae, addressed to the Principal, including the names and contact numbers of three referees, one of whom must be a professional referee.</p><p>Please ensure you address the Selection Criteria above, no more than 4 pages in total.</p><p>Applicants must have a current registration as a teacher with the Queensland College of Teachers.</p><p>To be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work in Australia.</p><p>Applicants must be fully supportive of the objectives and ethos of Lutheran Education.</p><p>On appointment, successful applicants will require a Working with Children Check.</p>
