<p>Macarthur is an independent Anglican co-educational Transition to Year 12 school with a strong academic and co-curricular focus catering for students of all ability levels. Currently, there are just over 1000 students in the School with a forecast steady growth over the coming years. The School is located in picturesque Cobbitty on over 85 magnificent acres, 50 minutes from the CBDs of Sydney and Wollongong. </p><p>The Headmaster is seeking to engage in a consultancy arrangement with a Christian person who is appropriately qualified and a fully registered Psychologist (AHPRA), to the role of Consultant School Psychologist. This role is to provide advice and professional learning opportunities to the Pastoral Care Team and the staff in general. The work is predominantly to upskill and support staff in dealing with student mental health care and it is not envisaged the role will deal directly with students or their families. </p><p>The right person for this role will be required to demonstrate the following:</p><p>• An ability to work collaboratively and liaise with key stakeholders to enhance outcomes for children and young people;</p><p>• Psychological expertise to support students to achieve cognitive, emotional, social, physical and spiritual well-being;</p><p>• A strong understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people;</p><p>• Experience in counselling children and young people using evidence based intervention approaches;</p><p>• Experience in cognitive emotional and behavioural assessment of children and young people;</p><p>• Well developed interpersonal oral and written communication skills, including report writing, and information technology skills;</p><p>• An ability to plan and conduct Professional Learning sessions for teaching staff; and,</p><p>• A Christian faith as evidenced by regular Church attendance.</p><p>Knowledge of the impact of trauma on young people; an understanding of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ID, Autism, ADHD and learning disorders; knowledge and understanding of giftedness in students; knowledge of how to support students with varying challenges and their teachers so that all students flourish at school and work to their potential; and, knowledge of strengths-based/positive psychology principles and programs; would be a distinct advantage.</p><p>Those interested are welcome to contact the Headmaster, Dr David Nockles for a confidential discussion prior to submitting an EOI by contacting the Executive Assistant to the Headmaster, Mrs Liz Seidel by email at lseidel&#64;macarthur.nsw.edu.au or by phone on 4629 6204.</p><p>Expressions of Interest for this role are to be sent directly to the Executive Assistant to the Headmaster, Mrs Liz Seidel by email at lseidel&#64;macarthur.nsw.edu.au.
