St Paul's Catholic College, Booragul is currently seeking a Full-time Permanent Learning Support Teacher to join the team from Term 1, 2022. St Paul's Catholic College offers an inclusive, welcoming and comfortable environment. The calm, nurturing setting has been designed to allow students and staff to feel at home in developing their varied capacities and skills. The growth of the students is nurtured and encouraged by a supportive faculty through the provision of creative freedom, empowerment of the individual and opportunities for prayer and reflection. The curriculum, both formal and informal, focuses on spiritual growth and reflects a respect for the diversity of all 950 students, their differing levels of abilities, strengths, weaknesses and gifts. <p> Teachers in a Catholic school have a unique role to play and are assigned with the task of ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow both academically and spiritually and to live purposeful lives. The Learning Support Teacher will be responsible for: <br>•Assisting with the initial identification of students with special educational needs; <br>•Working collaboratively with the principal, learning support coordinator, class teachers, parents and students to develop appropriate assessment strategies, identify resources and implement effective strategies to create learning and social opportunities for students with special education needs; <br>•Liaising with the relevant schools particularly in relation to transition periods; <br>•Collaboratively designing, implementing, modifying and evaluating individual Personalised Plans (PPs) with class teachers and other relevant people; <br>•Contributing to the preparation of documentation required under legislation in line with privacy and confidentiality obligations, for example, student files; <br>•Assisting in the preparation of funding submissions; <br>•Contributing to the provision of staff professional development and parent education programs. All employees are required to undergo a National Police Check, retain a valid NSW Working with Children Check and ensure compliance with our safeguarding policies, the Diocesan Safeguarding Commitment Statement and the Code’s of Conduct. </p> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <p> •Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school. <br>•Demonstrated appropriate experience and/or qualifications in Special Education <br>•Ability to apply appropriate knowledge in order to plan and prepare contemporary and compliant teaching and learning programs in your nominated areas which meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; and encourage them to work towards attainment of their potential. <br>•Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise data to optimise organisational and educational outcomes. <br>•Desire and willingness to be involved in the development and implementation of a Design Thinking program, that fosters essential global competencies, reflecting the College’s commitment to the New Pedagogies for Deep Learning Framework. <br>•Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community in order to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes. <br>•Desire to contribute to the establishment of a staff wide culture of professional learning, reading and reflective practice. <br>•Demonstrate an innovative and agile mindset that supports and enhances a culture of continuous improvement within the school environment.
