Teachers within the Diocese are responsible to the Principal and share in the learning and teaching of subject matters to students of the school community. Teachers are responsible for delivering high quality contemporary learning and teaching for the community they serve which is embedded in the Catholic world view. <p>Gilroy Catholic College is looking for a skilled, contemporary and passionate Religious Education Teacher to be part of our school community and enrich the lives of our students.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Key focus areas</strong></p> <ul> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">The Leader of Learning: RE is responsible to the Principal.&nbsp;</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">The Leader of Learning: RE assists the Leader of Mission and Evangelisation with regard to formation.&nbsp;</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">The Leader of Learning: RE is a member of the Curriculum Team at the College working with the Leader of Learning and Teaching.</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">The Leader of Learning: RE exercises responsibility by ensuring that the school delivers high quality contemporary learning and teaching in Religious Education.&nbsp;</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">The Leader of Learning: RE exercises responsibility by contributing a deep knowledge of the religious education curriculum.</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">Oversees the implementation of all Diocesan, Board of Studies and NSW Institute of Teachers policies and requirements.</li> </ul> <p><strong>The successful candidate will also possess the following skills and/or experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">A strong commitment to the Catholic faith in practice and lifestyle, witness and modelling&nbsp;</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Minimum of four years professional qualification in education</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Substantial currency in Religious Education pedagogy and knowledge of Religious Education curriculum</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Accreditation to teach Religious Education and completion of post-graduate or commitment to complete within four years of appointment post-graduate programs in three of four areas of: scripture, liturgy, theology and Religious Education</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">An understanding of contemporary learning theory and practice, and an ability to ensure this is in evidence in the teaching within the school</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">Ability to successfully teach Years 7 -12 Religious Education</li> </ul> <ul> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Build the capacity and capabilities of self and others</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Challenge existing practice to ensure reflection and continuous improvement</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Work with colleagues as a leader and team member</p> </li> </ul> <p>Please respond to the above selection criteria in your cover letter.</p> <p>All applications are to include a cover letter, curriculum vitae and three (3) current professional referees.
