We provide high quality services to promote healing from trauma and loss, and to enable hopeful futures. </p><p>MacKillop Family Services will care compassionately, respond large-heartedly and advocate courageously. </p><p>Our schools in Geelong (Foundation to VCAL), Maidstone (Years 3 to 6), and Caulfield (Foundation to VCAL), cater for students with diverse learning needs who are disengaged, or at risk of disengaging, from education. Our schools provide an individualised and differentiated learning program; students may re-enter mainstream school, or remain at MacKillop to complete their schooling. A senior certificate, is offered to secondary students and/or they are supported to engage in other education pathways, including traineeships and apprenticeships. </p><p>The XTend Program in Geelong caters for young people aged 12 to 17 years, who are engaged with mental health services and/or child protection. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Position purpose: </b></p><p>This position is situated in our Education Program and will be part of our School Wellbeing Team.</p><p>The School Psychologist will provide support to our students and families. In addition the psychologist will work with staff to enhance their capacity ito cater for the diverse learning needs of our students. </p><p>The Position Title is a member of the Local Leadership Team and reports to the Campus Principal.</p><p><br /></p><p><b>Primary objectives: </b></p><p>The School Psychologist will: </p><p>• Provide high level clinical and psycho-educational assessments and implement trauma informed interventions for the young people referred to the program and those who are our primary target group </p><p>• Respond to critical incidents as a member of the of the Incident Response Team </p><p>• Work directly with teachers in classrooms, or by withdrawing students, provide support to individual/groups of students </p><p>• Support teaching staff to develop individual learning and behaviour/safety plans which enhance educational outcomes for students </p><p>• Develop the capacity of staff in an educational setting to respond effectively to students whose learning and development has been impacted by trauma </p><p>• Provide support and psycho-education to families and carers to enhance wellbeing and educational outcomes for students. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>About you: </b></p><p>To be successful in this role, you will have: </p><p>• A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families </p><p>• Current registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA). A degree in Psychology at Master or Doctoral level is preferred </p><p>• Experience in an educational setting is essential </p><p>• Practice knowledge relevant to working with traumatised and vulnerable children, young people and families such as: child development and the impact of trauma; including the ability to provide therapeutic clinical assessment and trauma informed interventions </p><p>• A well-developed understanding of Attachment and Trauma Theories, their relationship to child abuse and neglect, together with an understanding of social, emotional and cognitive disabilities and an ability to assist others to understand their associated implications </p><p><b>For a full listing please view Position Description.</b></p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b>You must have a: </b></p><p>• Valid and current Driver’s Licence; </p><p>• Satisfactory Criminal History Check; </p><p>• Valid Working with Children Check; </p><p>• Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check</p><p><br /></p><p> </p><p>The Australian Government recently introduced the NDIS Worker Screening Check, an additional, national legislated compliance requirement to determine if a person is cleared to work with people with disability. MacKillop requires all client facing staff obtain the NDIS Worker Screening Check.
