We are currently seeking an experienced Student Health Officer to support our students by providing first aid assistance and supporting the health of students while at school.

<p>St Francis Xavier College is a Catholic College with a 2021 enrolment of 3300 students which will continue to grow in 2022. </p><p>The College serves families from the parishes of Berwick, Koo Wee Rup, Maryknoll/Iona, Narre Warren and Pakenham under the governance of Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited (DOSCEL). </p><p>St Francis Xavier College is easily accessed via several major freeways – only 20 minutes on the M1 from Springvale Road. </p><p>We are currently seeking an experienced Student Health Officer to support our students by providing first aid assistance and supporting the health of students while at school. </p><p>The successful candidate will also raise awareness about general health within the College community and respond with appropriate support to student health concerns that require monitoring during the school day while also ensuring that the relevant student health supplies are stocked and operating efficiently. </p><p><b>Key responsibilities include: </b></p><ul><li>Attend to unwell or injured students, and staff and visitors as required </li><li>Attendance at College events and activities (including camps and sports events as required) </li><li>Assist in managing students&#39; medical conditions, including (but not limited to): medication administration, parent communications, staff updates, liaising with external medical professionals </li><li>Member of individual students’ Care Teams where required </li><li>Work with the Student Health Team Leader to coordinate health programs (eg: immunisation programs, dental van visits) </li><li>Maintain records of attendance to a Student Health Coordinator for treatment and complete treatment notes (Synergetic) </li><li>Maintain the Student Medical Profile (SIMON) </li><li>Work with the Student Health Team Leader to maintain records of First Aid training for staff </li><li>Work with the Student Health Team Leader to complete the duties of the Anaphylaxis Supervisor (including staff briefings, documentation of staff training assessments) </li><li>Completing excursion medical lists for all campus excursions, including supporting high-risk activities and excursions (including camps) by assisting with the organisation and documentation of medications and briefing key staff on management of students with high-risk medical conditions </li><li>Liaise with Student Health Team Leader to maintain first aid supplies for the campus and campus activities </li><li>Inform relevant leaders (eg: Head of House, Learning Adjustment Leader) of medical information that can support their care for the student and inform any reporting requirements </li><li>Provide staff briefings as needed to share information about student medical conditions and College processes relating to physical health care </li><li>Contributing to parent communications on health-related issues </li><li>Respond to critical incidents and escalate medical emergencies to 000 </li><li>Respond to relevant health conditions and situations (eg: covid19 marshal) </li><li>Contribute to campus and cross-campus teams in order to improve communication and collaboration in support of student care and College processes </li></ul><p><b>To excel in this position, you will have the following skills, experience and attributes: </b></p><ul><li>Level 2 First Aid qualification or above (essential) </li><li>Health Professional background would be advantageous </li><li>Capacity and willingness to engage in further training (eg: asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes management, emergency first aid training) </li><li>Experience in a similar role, working with young people or in a health setting </li><li>High-level administration and organisation skills, including clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal </li><li>Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office and other software </li><li>Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team </li><li>Interpersonal skills to relate professionally with a wide variety of community members </li><li>Ability to remain calm and communicate clearly in stressful situations </li><li>Can demonstrate high levels of discretion and professional judgement </li><li>Organised with the ability to manage competing priorities </li><li>Commitment to occupational health and safety </li><li>Understanding of relevant compliance requirements </li><li>An understanding of and commitment to Catholic education </li></ul><p>Staff are employed under the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2018.
