Immanuel College is seeking a Director of Student to lead and manage the Student Diversity Faculty within the College’s Middle School.

<p>Immanuel College is a co-educational, Lutheran day and boarding school offering education from Years 7 to 12. It is a vibrant and exciting school, catering to a diverse community of around 1,000 students. </p><p>An award-winning school, Immanuel has been nationally recognised as an innovative school, a school where students reap the benefits of a rich, relevant and challenging program. The College strives to provide an education in a Christian context where the whole person can grow and develop. </p><p>The Director of Student Diversity is responsible to the Head of Middle School for the effective leadership and management of the Student Diversity faculty and program, including the provision of specialist curriculum advice. The structure for this area of learning within the College includes programs and staffing for Indigenous Education, Special Education, Learning Support, English as a Second Language and Giftedness support programming for students from Year 7 to year 12. </p><p>Immanuel’s teaching and learning programs focus on three core areas - Excellence in Academics, Innovative Teaching and Learning, and a Personalised Approach. The learning principles - Creating, Connecting, Thinking, Understanding - define an approach to teaching and learning that is designed to enable students to flourish in a complex and rapidly changing environment. </p><p>All staff at Immanuel College are required to promote and support a positive organisational culture by maintaining effective working relationships and communicating effectively with students, parents, colleagues and visitors. </p><p>The Director of Student Diversity has line management accountability for the faculty including the Learning Support, ESL, Indigenous Education, and Gifted and Talented staff and programs. </p><p>This role is required to work collaboratively with Heads of School, the Director of Teaching and Learning, Senior Years Learning Leader, Middle Years Learning Leader and Learning and Teaching Leaders of faculties across the College. </p><p>The role is largely autonomous regarding delivery and classroom practice under the framework provided by the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP), SACE, ACARA and College guidelines. Teachers must respond to student needs and collaborate with other staff to ensure the safety, wellbeing and academic achievement of each student. </p><p>The role of Director of Student Diversity encompasses specific activities and professional knowledge, practice and engagement in accordance with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL Standards). </p><p>Key Selection Criteria </p><p>The successful applicant will have or be able to demonstrate: </p><ul><li>appreciation of, and commitment to, the Christian values and ethos of the College. </li><li>comprehensive knowledge and understanding of pedagogical approaches to developing and delivering Student Diversity programs </li><li>comprehensive understanding of current practices and underlying theory in supporting students with a range of learning needs. </li><li>sensitivity and understanding of issues related to gender identity, disability discrimination and equal opportunity </li><li>experience in the delivery of specialised learning programming to assist the development of social, emotional and academic attributes of middle and senior school students </li><li>the capacity to lead and manage teaching and professional support staff in the Student Diversity faculty </li></ul><p><br /></p>
