The Director of Schools invites applications from energetic, innovative and contemporary educators to join the Primary Curriculum Team in Teaching &amp; Learning Services. This position is for a 0.4 two year temporary position OR secondment for a teacher who holds a substantive position within a school in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The position is based at CSO Newcastle West and worked from 8am – 4pm (or 8.30am – 4.30pm) 0.4FTE including one week during the school holiday period. The Education Officer-Primary Curriculum/Numeracy K-6 joins an existing team of three primary specialists, within the broader Curriculum Team, in supporting primary schools of the Diocese. The role calls for an experienced, quality educator with the capabilities to support all primary schools. The Education Officer – Primary Curriculum/Numeracy K-6 aims to: <br>• Support school communities in the delivery of quality teaching and learning and in use of daily data to guide changes and practice and monitor the effectiveness of improvement strategies <br>• Work with the Head of Learning and Teaching; Education Officers, and CSO colleagues to lead and support system wide learning improvement priorities within Primary Schools in the Diocese through the provision of appropriate professional development and support <br>• Support schools through the provision of specialist expertise in numeracy K-6 <br>• Support Primary Schools in the implementation of the syllabus within curriculum and assessment requirements <p> We are seeking to appoint a highly proficient and experienced educational leader to work within a Team supporting the implementation and sustainability of the system wide approach to Primary education. Diocesan workers are expected to personally adopt and enact the Diocese’s Safeguarding Commitment Statement. </p> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <p> • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools <br>• Demonstrated ability to ensure a Catholic perspective across the curriculum <br>• A four-year trained teacher classification and a minimum of ten years classroom teaching experience <br>• Sound understanding of current curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements in primary schools with the capacity to provide initiative and leadership in areas of curriculum development and cross curriculum content in syllabi <br>• Proven student success through effective use of literacy and numeracy data to assess and provide feedback and optimise educational outcomes <br>• Strong organisational skills with demonstrated ability to support and enhance a culture of continuous improvement within the school environment <br>• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and respectfully alongside school colleagues <br>• Evidence of strong pedagogical and evidence-based practice and experience in designing contemporary and innovative learning opportunities <br>• Ability to plan and evaluate collaboratively with teachers and to model and share best practice within the school environment and across the system of schools <br>• Willingness to comply with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy (Category C) The applicant must provide evidence of the following: <br>• Four-year trained teacher classification <br>• NESA Teacher Accreditation <br>• Working with Children Clearance number <br>• Anaphylaxis training </p> <h3>Desirable Criteria:</h3> <p> • Experience in a formal leadership position or as a Pedagogical Mentor or Leading Teacher at a primary school <br>• Recent experience in teaching K-6 <br>• Post graduate qualifications at Masters level </p> <h3>Renumeration:</h3> <p> Conditions and salary commensurate with the Education &amp; Professional Officers Agreement Maitland-Newcastle 2019-2020 at level 3.1 – 3.3 depending on qualifications and experience. </p> <h3>Additional Info:</h3> <p> Applications together with Current Curriculum Vitae to be emailed as one pdf document (Ref: 11311) to suzanne.fern@mn.catholic.edu.au Applications should address each of the criteria as listed for this position and provide names and contact details of three referees, one of whom should be a parish priest and another, the applicant's immediate supervisor.
