<p>St Bernard’s College, Essendon, seeks to employ an exceptional leader of learning that can build upon the rich tradition of quality teaching and learning at the College. </p><p>Established in 1940, St Bernard’s College is an independent Catholic secondary school for boys. Located in the Melbourne suburb of Essendon some 20 minutes from the city centre, the College has been offering outstanding education for boys for over 80 years. A member of the Association of Catholic Colleges, under the Governance of Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA), the College enjoys an enrolment of over 1500 students. As a Catholic community, St Bernard’s College ensures Gospel values are central to all relationships. The College is an environment in which young men are encouraged to make the most of every learning opportunity offered. </p><p>The Assistant Principal – Learning has line management responsibility for the School’s Heads of Learning and coordinators of academic departments and is responsible for leading this team in a collaborative approach with regard to teaching and learning and all areas of curriculum, assessment, and reporting. </p><p>As part of the School’s Senior Leadership Team, the Assistant Principal – Learning will report to the Principal or Principal’s delegate. An attractive salary and benefits package will be negotiated. </p><p>The successful candidate will be a relational, empowering and dynamic professional, able to: </p><p>• Take responsibility for continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices, lead learning and innovation and promote best practice pedagogy. </p><p>• Lead innovation, improvement and change, ensuring the College establishes Teaching and Learning Frameworks that are reflective of contemporary thinking. </p><p>• Develop expertise in curriculum and pedagogical practice within a future focused setting. </p><p>• Lead the Curriculum Committee, Heads of Departments and other staff allocated to curriculum roles to ensure a coordinated, coherent and connected College program. </p><p>• Develop high academic expectations in students and staff. </p><p>• Ensure the use of data to inform best practice in teaching. </p><p><br /></p><p> </p><p> </p>
