<h4>Temporary, Full-Time</h4><h4><br /></h4><h4> </h4><p>Wenona is seeking a dynamic, experienced and passionate Primary educator to inspire our young women through engaging classroom practice, refined professional knowledge and a commitment to high performance. </p><p>At Wenona we have an obligation to our profession to ensure the highest quality educational outcomes for our students. We expect our teachers to be committed to their own professional development and to want to make a contribution to the broader educational community. </p><p>Wenona is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate – Primary Years Programme, and all teachers will engage in ongoing professional development, collaborative planning and programming to ensure we meet our obligations as we implement this exciting program K-6. </p><p>We view classroom teaching as a clinical practice, whereby teachers refine their skills and reflect on their own performance through the annual Wenona Improvement Cycle. This includes observed practice of our teaching by our colleagues and 360-degree feedback for all teachers. </p><p>Wenona supports both academic and support staff to develop their expertise through initiatives such as Wenona Teaching Fellowships, Seeding Grants and ongoing outstanding professional learning that develops and supports career development into the future. </p><p>This parental leave cover position is currently planned to commence in Term 4, 2021 and conclude at the end of Term 3, 2022. However, these dates may change due to the nature of the leave. </p><h4>Key priorities</h4><h4><br /></h4><ul><li>Outstanding professional practice, including demonstrated experience to differentiate the curriculum.</li><li>Strong understanding of inquiry-based pedagogies and knowledge of the International Baccalaureate – Primary Years Programme.</li><li>A working understanding of the requirements of the NSW Board of Studies syllabi, including the new syllabi that have been implemented since 2014.</li><li>A commitment to facilitating outstanding results for all students, particularly ensuring that student literacy and numeracy results are monitored and tracked and that specific strategies are implemented to improve results.</li><li>Proven ability to ensure teaching and learning activities reflect contemporary pedagogy, including the ability to integrate an inquiry based approach to teaching and learning.</li><li>An ability to plan and implement for authentic assessment that informs teaching and learning.</li><li>A commitment to establishing and maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom culture, dedicated pastoral care and the social and emotional wellbeing needs of young people.</li><li>An ongoing commitment to professional learning, including making a contribution to the broader educational community.</li><li>An understanding of and commitment to the educational needs of girls and young women.</li><li>A commitment to collaborative teaching practices and an ability to contribute to a Junior School team of professional educators.</li></ul><h4>Education and Experience </h4><ul><li>Outstanding K-6 Teaching Qualifications</li><li>Experience in teaching across K-6</li><li>NESA Accreditation</li><li>NSW Working with Children Check</li></ul><h4>Personal Attributes </h4><ul><li>Excellent communication skills, with an ability to engage and communicate with all stakeholders including students, parents and staff</li><li>Ability to be solutions focused and data-driven in all decision making</li><li>Desire to use flexibility and creativity in day-to-day activities</li><li>A sense of humour</li></ul><p>Wenona is an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion, sexual orientation or age. </p><h4>General conditions of the role </h4><ul><li><b>Award &amp; Classification:</b> Independent Schools NSW (Teacher’s) MEA 2015 – 2017 Award.</li><li><b>Hours of work:</b> Temporary, Full-Time.</li><li><b>Reporting Line:</b> All positions report to the Principal.</li><li><b>The line manager for this position</b>: Head of Junior School</li><li><b>Professional Learning:</b> You will be expected to attend and contribute to all staff professional development days and requirements as outlined in the School’s calendar.</li><li><b>Other duties:</b> In addition to teaching duties, the successful candidate will be required to participate in other areas of the School including playground duties, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and school camps. This role involves the application of discipline and participation in the School’s program for pastoral care.
