St Clare’s is seeking to appoint an outstanding and experienced Head of Science (Acting) with a strong academic background. This position requires an Educator who is innovative, future focused and has a passion for working collaboratively in the leadership of the Science within the College.

<p>St Clare’s College is seeking to appoint an outstanding and experienced Head of Science (Acting) with a strong academic background. This position or leadership attracts 2 point time and remuneration allocation. This is a temporary full time position commencing Term 4 2021, or by negotiation.</p><p><b>About the role</b>:</p><p>The Head of Science assists in influencing the learning and teaching throughout the College. This position requires an innovative Educator who has a passion for working collaboratively in the leadership of Science within the College in relation to curriculum initiatives, and the learning and teaching process. As a member of St Clare&#39;s College, the role requires a commitment to supporting a positive religious and cultural Catholic school environment for young women in the Franciscan tradition. . </p><p><b>Key Selection criteria:</b></p><p>The Acting Head of Science is a delegated responsibility by the Principal for the leadership of the following key areas;</p><ul><li>Provide active leadership for all those involved in teaching or supporting the Science department. This will include mentoring, collaborating and the sharing of information so that staff motivation is at an optimum level to encourage continuous improvement in the quality of learning and teaching.</li><li>Create effective teams by inspiring and motivating students and staff. Be a positive role model for other staff and students by taking responsibility for the continuous improvement of the team within the context of the College.</li><li>Give active leadership in contemporary learning practices that enhance student achievement and performance across all Science courses. Capacity to lead the ongoing development of differentiated pedagogy, authentic learning and assessment which is informed by evidence-based approaches and the skilled use of data.</li><li>Lead the facilitation of staff professional development in the required learning and teaching skills, and content knowledge.</li><li>Work collaboratively at both strategic and operational levels with other Heads of Department, staff, students and parents.</li><li>Develop, evaluate and revise faculty policies and procedures which comply with College, Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) and NESA legislative requirements and guidelines.</li><li>Support the College Leadership Team to implement an annual process of review of key results to set stretch goals for faculty staff and students.</li><li>Provide sound leadership to and administration of the faculty in a way that is credible and consistent for all stakeholders.</li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to build genuine and professional relationships and to promote shared commitment and a sense of achievement.</li></ul><p><b>Professional Duties &amp; Role Accountability:</b></p><p>The Head of Department is responsible for:</p><ul><li>Leading and managing the Science department including, modelling best practice in Science teaching, implementation of curriculum (Years 7-12), monitoring achievement of students and effectiveness of teachers, dealing with all operational, budgeting and record keeping requirements and ensuring fair and effective assessment procedures.</li><li>Ensuring continued creativity and innovation in the teaching of Science. Use of creative and innovative teaching practice to provide a rich environment that caters for diversity and academic rigor.</li><li>Exhibit knowledge of STEM and emerging technologies and the ability to integrate these into a wide range of curriculum applications.</li><li>Actively working with members of the Science department in planning a pathway for the professional learning needs of the faculty.</li><li>The ongoing administration of the faculty.</li><li>Other duties as required by the Principal, including involvement in co-curricular offerings.</li></ul><p>Applicants should complete the St Clare’s College Teaching Application Form, which is available on the website <a href="http://www.stclares.nsw.edu.au" rel="nofollow">www.stclares.nsw.edu.au</a> (or download it from the bottom of this ad) and forward it to the College Principal with a covering letter, full CV, including transcripts of qualifications and the names and telephone numbers of at least three referees.
