St Pius X High School, Adamstown is seeking a part-time temporary Timber and Metal Workshop Assistant, to join the school community 2 days per week from the beginning of Term 3. In this position you will provide direct support and assistance to our Technology Teachers. <p> You will actively support and contribute to the maintenance and development of a safe working environment by: <br>• Ensuring all machinery, tools and equipment are maintained to the highest standard. Arranging any necessary repairs or servicing as required. <br>• Liaising with teachers regarding ordering and receipt of timber and metal materials. <br>• Organisation and preparation of teaching materials and equipment for practical lessons. <br>• Maintaining stock inventory and records. <br>• Maintaining workshop and storage areas, ensuring that materials and chemicals are stored appropriately. <br>• Ensuring WHS standards in practical workshops are always upheld. All employees are required to undergo a National Police Check, retain a valid NSW Working with Children Check and ensure compliance with our safeguarding policies, the Diocesan Safeguarding Commitment Statement and the Code’s of Conduct. </p> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <p> • A working knowledge and understanding of TAS equipment, materials and chemicals as well as the WHS issues pertaining to these. <br>• Experience in the use of a wide range of commonly used hand tools, portable power tools and some fixed machinery. <br>• A willingness to work as a member of a team, especially communicating effectively with staff and students. <br>• Working With Children number must be recorded on your application </p> <h3>Desirable Criteria:</h3> <p> </p> <h3>Renumeration:</h3> <p> Salary is in accordance with New South Wales &amp; Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017. </p> <h3>Additional Info:</h3> <p> The covering letter should address the criteria as outlined and contact details of your referees are to be included.
