Permanent ongoing position full-time teacher - special needs school

<p>ERSES has two exciting and innovative Special Schools: St Edmund’s College, Wahroonga (Secondary) and St Gabriel’s School, Castle Hill (Primary and Secondary) for students with a sensory disability and/or a mild to moderate intellectual disability, including physical disabilities, autism and communication difficulties. Each school offers small classes, excellent facilities and provides individualised NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA) education programs. The position will appeal to people who are passionate about their teaching, enjoy working collaboratively and who wish to be part of a caring, dynamic and innovative community. </p><p>We are seeking applicants for the following position: </p><p>Classroom Teacher – Full time permanent position - </p><p>Beginning Term 3, 2021 or by negotiation </p><p>Essential Skills: </p><p>• Commitment to the Catholic and Edmund Rice ethos of the College; </p><p>• Knowledge of and commitment to the College Vision and Mission, Strategic Goals and the EREA Charter and Touchstones;</p><p>• Accredited at or working towards Proficient Level through NESA; </p><p>• An ability to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons; </p><p>• An ability to organise and direct teaching support staff; </p><p>• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills; </p><p>• Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing; </p><p>• Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships; </p><p>• Proven competence with use of technology in a learning environment and in implementing curriculum including iPads and interactive panels; </p><p>• An understanding of current educational issues, curriculum requirements and assessment; </p><p>• Acts professionally and maintains appropriate confidentiality; </p><p>• Participation in field trips/excursion, co-curricular activities and camps. </p><p>Desirable Skills </p><p>• Experience in working with students with a range of disabilities, teaching Stages 4-6 Life Skills curriculum; </p><p>• Experience in teaching English, Literacy and Mathematics; this could include those with </p><p> primary teacher qualifications; </p><p>• Qualifications or study in the area of Special Education at Masters level; </p><p>• Experience in teaching students with sensory needs such as hearing or vision impairment; </p><p>• Holding a Light Rigid Licence or willingness to drive a 12-seater school van. </p><p>Applicants should hold high expectations for teaching students with special needs and be able to work collaboratively with colleagues.
