<p>The John Berne School, a Catholic school in the Marist tradition, is seeking a Counsellor who is a registered Psychologist experienced in working with adolescents and their families. </p><p>Position commences 5th October, 2021</p><p><b>Essential Criteria </b></p><ul><li>Experience in assessment and facilitating interventions for young people with developmental, cognitive, social or emotional needs. Specifically in the following areas: Intellectual disabilities, learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ODD and trauma </li><li>The ability to support students with attendance, safety and behaviour challenges through collaborative planning </li><li>Experience in conducting cognitive and/or educational reports. </li><li>Hold current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) </li><li>Hold, or be eligible for, membership with the Australian Psychological Society </li><li>Have current knowledge of the NSW education system </li><li>Have the ability to liaise with teachers and community agencies </li><li>Have excellent organisational, communication and information technology skills </li></ul><p><b>Desirable Skills/Qualifications </b></p><ul><li>Masters of Clinical Psychology or Education/Developmental Psychology </li><li>Understanding or experience of Positive Psychology and Trauma informed practice </li><li>Experience with Family therapy and systemic approaches </li><li>Experience in conducting group work </li><li>The successful applicant will maintain close communication with the families of students, as well as the School Support Team, Leadership Team and teachers. </li></ul><p>Applicants would need to have a willingness to become fully involved in all aspects of school life in this unique situation, including outdoor education and other programs.
