MacKillop Education in Geelong are looking for a dynamic and passionate Team Leader with exceptional leadership and management skills. We are seeking someone who is trauma informed and committed to working with young people with diverse and complex needs.

It operates as part of MacKillop Family Services, whose central goal is to support, to foster hope, and to promote justice for children, young people and their families; particularly those who experience distress, disadvantage and abuse. We believe in the transformative and liberating power of education, supported by a safe community that strives for excellence, enabling every student to flourish and achieve their full potential.</p><p>MacKillop Education Geelong caters for students (Foundation-VCAL) who are disengaged from mainstream education, and have complex and diverse needs; and therefore, require extensive adjustments to access learning. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>About the role</b></p><p>Located in Geelong, VIC, the Primary Team Leader is a member of the Leadership Team at Mackillop Education Geelong, reporting to the Deputy Principal. The Primary Team Leader will lead and work collaboratively with staff to develop and deliver education programs that are suited to the specific needs of the students. The Primary Team Leader has a fixed term POL (2021), in addition to an ongoing Generalist Teacher position. This includes opportunities for POLs in 2022 and beyond.</p><p>This role will lead and contribute to the development of education programs appropriate to the identified learning and wellbeing requirements of children with complex and diverse needs, who have often experienced trauma, abuse or neglect.</p><p>Applicants should also be aware that MacKillop Education Geelong will also be seeking to fill a number of Positions of Leadership, commencing 2022. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities include:</b></p><p>• Oversee, in collaboration with the Deputy Principal, the development, documentation and implementation of the Victorian Curriculum</p><p>• Support Primary School Staff to meet the learning and wellbeing needs of their students</p><p>• Provide supervision to Primary Teachers and Education Support Staff, as required</p><p>• Set and demonstrate high expectations for student learning and education outcomes through the development of Individual Education and Behaviour Support Plans.</p><p>• Support the Primary Team to enhance capacity and implement systems and processes related to learning and wellbeing.</p><p>• Model a commitment to Child Safety, unconditional positive regard and trauma informed practice at all times. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>About you</b></p><p>We are looking for a dynamic and passionate leader and teacher, who is trauma-informed and committed to working with young people with diverse and complex needs.</p><p>Our successful applicant will have a strong knowledge and experience of developing curriculum and supporting students with special needs.</p><p>We want a leader who is resilient, flexible and has the capacity to work collaboratively as a part of a committed and passionate team. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Key Selection Criteria include:</b></p><p>• A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families </p><p>• A four-year teaching qualification or equivalent and eligibility for Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration</p><p>• Demonstrate a passion for, and commitment to, leading the development, documentation, and implementation of the Victorian Curriculum </p><p>• Experience in the design, delivery and assessment of programs that cater for diverse and complex needs of individual learners and a commitment to trauma-informed practice </p><p>• Demonstrated understanding of contemporary developments in education and a capacity to engage students who have a range of learning difficulties and challenging behaviours</p><p>• Demonstrate developed leadership skills to be able to contribute effectively as a member of the Local Leadership Team (Geelong), lead and provide quality mentoring and supervision to a team of educators, and support the professional development of staff to enhance the learning outcomes of all students</p><p>• Demonstrate a developed capacity to oversee the implementation MacKillop Education’s policies, procedures and practices that support the learning and wellbeing needs of students </p><p><br /></p><p>MacKillop is committed to being a child safe organisation.
