Exceptional opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and progressive leader to join our Executive Team. A key role in the senior leadership team, the Deputy Principal will support the Principal in providing strategic leadership of the College.

<h4>St Mary Star of the Sea College is a proud Catholic Secondary school of Good Samaritan Education. The College has played a significant role in the education of women in the Illawarra for over 148 years. St Mary’s is a technology-rich environment which encourages innovation and creativity through its IB Middle Years Program (Years 7-10), promoting Catholic values through its high standard of pastoral care and commitment to collaborative teaching and learning.<br /></h4><p>Inspired and informed by our Good Samaritan and Benedictine heritage, St Mary Star of the Sea College provides a dynamic and nurturing educational community “where the strong have something to strive for and the weak have nothing to run from” (RB64:9). Each student is nurtured to realise their full potential and to act with confidence and integrity to make a difference in the world.</p><p><b>As a newly established position, the College is seeking to appoint a Deputy Principal to support the Principal in providing strategic leadership of the College, commencing January 2022.</b></p><p>The Deputy Principal models, encourages and expects excellence in performance by all College staff, ensuring professionalism at all levels and establishes and oversights short term and long-term planning processes within the College. With strong mission and people leadership capability, the successful applicant will have demonstrated ability to think strategically, generate initiatives, collaborate to generate support, and effectively plan for implementation and evaluation of outcomes. </p><h4><b>ESSENTIAL CRITERIA</b></h4><ul><li>Commitment to Catholic education with demonstrated leadership experience in Religious Education pedagogy and the ability to embed the Catholic vision in the school’s goals, policies, programs and operations.</li><li>Strategic thinking and execution with the ability to translate broad strategy and concepts into action.</li><li>Demonstrated experience managing senior staff in an educational setting.</li><li> Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships within the broader College community.</li><li>Demonstrated success in building high performing teams and facilitating cooperation within and across faculties/functions of a school.</li><li>Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement with the ability to lead and manage change effectively.</li><li>Demonstrated commitment to collaborative leadership and decision-making with an openness to diverse perspectives.</li><li>Well informed understanding of contemporary learning and teaching practices, research, and pedagogy.</li><li>Sound understanding of legislative, compliance and school administration processes as they relate to the independent education sector.</li></ul><p><b>Applications close Sunday 16 May, 11pm. </b></p><p><b>To Apply: </b>Applicants are required to download the Employment Package available on the College website <a href="http://www.stmarys.nsw.edu.au/our-college/employment/" rel="nofollow">www.stmarys.nsw.edu.au/our-college/employment/</a> for further role information and detailed instructions on the application process. <br /></p><p>Enquiries to Amanda Doyle, Director People and Culture on 4228 6011.<br /></p>
