Key elements of the strategy focus on opportunities to reimagine learning that enables members of our school community to be creative, self-directed and critical thinkers, who are inspired to learn, whose natural inquisitiveness is nurtured and who strive for excellence</p><p><br /></p><p><b>THE POSITION </b><br /></p><p>The Learning Support Officers (LSO) will provide direct or indirect support to students to assist them in specific learning areas. LSO's will guide and support students through the teacher-designed adjustments regarding the process, product or content of student learning. <br /></p><p><br /></p><p><b>The main elements of the role include but are not limited to;</b></p><ul><li>Follow teacher direction to assist in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of student learning including the collection of data for teacher analysis </li><li>Partner with teaching and Inclusive and Diversity staff to implement student’s learning plans with specific strategies as identified in the plans</li><li>Actively review, follow and keep up to date on student data, learner profiles, support plans and other Inclusion and Diversity documentation and policies</li><li>Support students to enable them to use specialised augmentative communication and adaptive technology to enhance student access to the curriculum</li><li>Assist teaching staff to provide inclusive classrooms to enable all students to access their learning</li><li>Attend required incursions and excursions to further support students learning and inclusion </li><li>Ensure confidentiality and privacy to maintain the dignity of the person at all times</li><li>Provide fair access to education for students with a disability by uploading guidelines outlined in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><b>WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR </b></p><p>The successful candidates will bring a positive attitude to these critical roles to support students of the College. Partnering with teaching staff and the wider Inclusion and Diversity network, the successful candidates will have a passion for supporting inclusivity of all students. </p><p><br /></p><p>Proven experience required includes:</p><ul><li>Sound capability to build trusted relationships with young people</li><li>An awareness and understanding of the challenges students may encounter in their education</li><li>Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders</li><li>Experience in managing highly confidential and sensitive information/data </li><li>Ability to demonstrate clever and creative approaches to support students in their learning </li><li>Willingness to undertake and maintain relevant professional learning</li><li>Current Working with Children Check and Police Check in addition to a commitment to ensuring a child safe environment for all students</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><b>Desirable experience includes:</b></p><ul><li>Experience in an educational environment</li><li>Certificate III in Education Support</li><li>A current Victorian Drivers Licence</li></ul><p>The successful candidate will have the relevant background checks conducted by the College and salary will be based upon the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2018. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>APPLICATION PROCESS</b></p><p>Applications must include:<br /></p><ul><li>a cover letter briefly addressing each of the selection criteria above (including clearly identifying what position you are applying for)</li><li>a resume</li><li>and can be addressed to Anna Negro, Principal</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>Please note, any applications sent directly to a member of the College will not be accepted. </p><p><b>Applications close 9.00am Tuesday 9 March 2021</b></p><p><i>Sacred Heart College Geelong actively promotes and highly values the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all students</i></p>
