Key elements of the strategy focus on opportunities to reimagine learning that enables members of our school community to be creative, self-directed and critical thinkers, who are inspired to learn, whose natural inquisitiveness is nurtured and who strive for excellence.</p><p><br /></p><p><b>THE POSITION </b></p><p>The First Aid Officer will provide a broad range of primary health care services and advice for students, as well as training, current information on student medical management and preventative advice for staff and community.  </p><p>The main elements of the role include but are not limited to;</p><p><u>First Aid Support</u></p><ul><li>Providing First Aid treatment to students and staff including assessment, treatment and notification to families where required</li><li>Working with families to maintain medical records including student health alerts, notifications to staff throughout the year and relevant or mandated training and presentations</li><li>Continually monitor and assist in the management of students with chronic health issues</li><li>Liaising with relevant staff to plan, promote and deliver health promotion activities</li><li>Ensuring medications are prepped and ready for travel with students when they are off campus</li><li>Collaborating with the Inclusion and Diversity network, including the collection and recording of evidence for NCCD data</li><li>Support the College in the confidential management of disclosed workplace participant medical information</li></ul><p><u>Compliance</u></p><ul><li>First Aid equipment and stock management, including audits, maintenance, supply and restock and training for: student-specific medical kits, first aid kits, defibrillators, yard duty kits, excursion kits and any other medical equipment or stock at the College</li><li>Liaising with local health authorities, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Mercy Education Limited (MEL) and Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) and any other governing body to ensure compliance with current health regulations and requirements in an educational setting</li><li>Developing and conducting relevant and/or mandated training for workplace participants including but not limited to anaphylaxis, asthma, epilepsy and diabetes</li><li>Updating and developing relevant health policies and procedures</li><li>Being an active member of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) committee and Student Support Services team, providing insight into trends and data whilst supporting the wider health and wellbeing initiatives of the College</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><b>WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR </b></p><p>The successful candidates will bring a positive attitude to this critical roles to support students and staff at the College. Partnering with the Inclusion and Diversity Network, as well as leadership and other committee members, the successful candidate will work well under pressure and provide well thought out, fresh ideas. </p><p><br /></p><p><u>Proven experience required includes:</u><br /></p><ul><li>Current First Aid Certificate - minimum HLTAID003 (must be continually maintained)<br /></li><li>Anaphylaxis Training certification</li><li>Experience developing and delivering training, including the ability to deliver to large groups</li><li>High level interpersonal skills (with a particular focus on young people) and the ability to collaboratively work within a team</li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on detail</li><li>High computer and technical skills, and the propensity to learn and establish new ways of working</li><li>Employee Working with Children Check and National Police Records Check (no older than 3 months at time of commencement)</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><u>Desirable experience includes:</u></p><ul><li>Experience working in an educational setting or with minors</li><li>Certificate in ‘Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting’ (HLTAID004)        </li><li>Experience in planning and/or contributing to emergency response planning</li><li>Mental Health First Aid Certificate</li><li>Working knowledge of Synergetic</li><li>Professional Industry membership, or involvement in relevant networks</li><li>A current Victorian Drivers License</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>The successful candidate will have the relevant background checks conducted by the College and salary will be based upon the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2018. </p><p><br /></p><p><i>Please note, any applications sent directly to a member of the College will not be accepted. </i></p><p><b>Applications close 9.00am Tuesday 9 March 2021</b></p><p>Sacred Heart College Geelong actively promotes and highly values the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all students</p>
